Which OS? Leopard or Snow?

Post by joe.cavers » Mon Apr 26, 2010 3:24 pm

Hey guys,

I did some searching but it's hard to find the answer I'm looking for hidden amongst all the threads on OS's.

Is it the general consensus that Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and Live 8.1.3 is the most stable combo for Live right now? I'm about to reinstall my OS and I have both Leopard AND Snow Leopard disks.

Cheers
Joe

P.S. Just bought an APC40, coming 2moro, pretty damn excited!

Don't be scared of Snow Leopard. Upgrading to Snow was the best thing I could do for my MacBook. It runs outstanding.

BTW: Ask yourself this - Do you think Ableton developers work hard on updating Live software while using older OS's?

My nearly 4 year old Macbook that I use for daily stuff is the same :) My MBP I use as an audio machine is a different story, it'll be Snow Leopard soon!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm also upgrading to a 7200rpm drive (from a 5400rpm), so when I buy that, I'll go all the way to Snow Leopard.

Cheers!

Request for folks who are reporting on Snow Leopard: can you also include your computer model & RAM? Thank ye.

I'm very reluctant to upgrade to Snow Leopard for one reason: Native Instruments.

I've got older NI apps and plugs that are not 10.6 compatible. Traktor 3.4 and Elektrik piano are known to have issues, and I'm sure there are a few others from the earlier Komplete versions.

Anyone running the older Komplete suites on 10.6? Any words of wisdom?

Did they ever get the Fireface 800 issues settled with Snow Leopard? I tried to make the switch before and it was glitch city. The interface would hang up and freeze. I want to switch :)
