Problem with 8.1.3

Post by Mentze » Tue Apr 27, 2010 9:59 pm

Hi there,

I installed 8.1.3 update yesterday and i was just fooling around with some samples. Then i closed Live without saving. Today when i opened live yesterdays set came up. I am trying to do a new live set and when i choose from "File" "New Live Set" the set i did yesterday keeps coming up. Any ideas?

My guess is you saved it as your default set !
MacBook Pro 13" Retina i7 2.8 GHz OS 10.13, L10.0.1, M4L.
MacStudio M1Max 32Go OS 12.3.1

Delete whatever you don't want in the default set, then go to Preferences / File Folder and click on the 'Save Current Set as Default' button.

The default set is simply an empty audio track and an empty MIDI track. All you have to do to get things back to normal is delete everything you get after launching Live, make it so that the only two tracks are those blank audio and MIDI tracks....then go to Preferences, click the File Folder tab, and hit the Save button at the very top where it says Save Current Set as Default.

My guess is this would also do the trick:

Delete the preferences.cfg file under (on Windows) C:\Documents and Settings\your user name\Application Data\Ableton\Live\Preferences or on Mac /Users/Library/Preferences/Ableton/

Don't worry, this won't do anything bad to Live....it will simply re-build the file.

Pyro is right, but it will also erase all your preferences setting (which is not so dangerous aftre all). You'd better just make a new empty set, and save it as default.

Just hold down Shift, then choose File, New Live Set (or whatever it's called, I don't have Live at hand).
This will open a fresh new default Live set. You can then set that as your new default.

I just tested that out and it does indeed work. Thank you for that slirak.
