Not at all (READ the Wikipedia entry).

German television happened to record it. They even didn't ever translate it, although German TV is not famous for broadcasting original language.

My mate and his wife out in Berlin call Monday nights on german TV, 'Self-Flagellation Night' because all the programmes are geared towards, 'oh no, weren't we bad people look what we did in the war, lets punish ourselves and be all apologetic'

There is no humour in Germany only bitterness and guilt.

Which is quite funny really.

I always wonder if a countries onomatopeia is related to how they have sex. For example in England it would be all, 'Bam, Wham, Bosh, Wallop!'

In France it's all slow and sensual like, 'Plim, Plouf, Enchante, Swish'

In Germany it's very military, 'Tzak, Tchak, Nah, Gut, Jawohl'

In, out, in, out, not like that, like this. Dankeschon und auf wiedersehn.

This is really sad. It could be argued that Germany was the most hyper-fucked up in WWII, but the Japanese delivered their fair share of atrocities and they seem to have gotten over it just fine and are well respected and industrious in the global picture. And more importantly to this thread they've got the most creative and perverted humor on the planet.

I think it's fair to say that Germany imposes more guilt on itself than the rest of the world does on Germany. The only other group of people that has a longer history of self imposed guilt is the Jews. Oh the irony.

Indeed. A mere 1.2 hours after the war ended they already had a slew of 'schoolgirls shit on your face' websites up and running. "War? What War?"

True story, that.

And if there is one other country that doesn't have a sense of humour (at least one that is anyway remotely sane) it is Japan.
