DO IT! DO IT! It's this thread alone that convinced me to get one, and it really is the best purchase I've made in - literally - years.eightbit wrote:Alright, you guys win. I'm buying one.

Hi Folks
I have a Korg pad kontrol, RMX and of course live 8. I am pretty much using rmx , drum trax for beats and live fr everything else including sequencing external synths.
How will Maschine if at all benefit me further beyond what i can already do without it? I've been through this post in detail and have gathered bits n parts of the benefits but am not convinced that a $600 spend will significantly improve my music.
Anyone can help me with making a more informed deciscion? thanks in advance

no technology should accomplish that, if so... something entirely is wrong with your 'music' or your musical ability.Anand wrote:significantly improve my music.
all other advantages of maschine have been mentioned here.
well, one thing i can think of, though... the FUN that let's your musical juices flowing.

you forget the fact that maschine has a better audio and summing engine than live, and produces a really warmer and more analogue sounding, even when as a plugin within live...

Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
anyone ready to buy a SECOND maschine???
I dreamt last night I was giggin" with a 2-maschines+ableton live setup...
NI should sell maschine controllers without the software for "cheap" (300$?), would be great for us fanboys!!

wow
a bit expensive for me now, but it's good to know it's available, if one day I want to upgrade my setup rig!!
(I'm soon to buy a DSI Tetra... so the 2nd maschine controller can wait
)
cheers

I wonder if they're capable of running as a pair though?
I've been resisting for about 3 months on getting a maschine now. I even rang up a local music store to put one aside for me but they don't stock them (crazy people). Going to have to bite the bullet soon, it's great hearing the joy that everyone is having from this thing. More stories please!!!!

you can only run them as a pair when one controls the Maschine software, and on in midi controller mode.Rowlsten wrote:I wonder if they're capable of running as a pair though.
one of the NI moderators said this on the NI forum.
that being said,it's super easy to switch between multiple Maschine instances.

Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
I find it myself to be a bit "pain in the ***" to switch, even between just 2 instancesthat being said,it's super easy to switch between multiple Maschine instances.
you got to:
1) press shift+step
2) select the instance in the menu, either with the +/- buttons above the right screen, or with the first pot under this screen, and fact is that the already used instance is darkened in the list, and the one you're choosing is just rounded by a little dot line difficult to see (IMHO), and really often I'm lost, the one I'm thinking I'm choosing being in fact the one that is already loaded... then loading the same... they could change this, or make the already loaded one unavailable or "unchoosable" in the list...
3) press "load"
I think it would be really much more easy if we had this:
1) press shift+step (I'm ok with that
2) use one of the 8 upper buttons to directly load the corresponding instance (1 to 8 )
if you had more that 8 instances (...), you still could use the menu to select the one you want to "load"
anyway I use just 2 instances, so it's not so bad, but I still find it counterintuitive process...
cheers
