Mackie Control Universal: faders jump back to old value?
Mackie Control Universal: faders jump back to old value?
A question to the MCU-users in here:
I recently bought a used MCU from ebay.
The faders seem to work okay on startup. I'm just wondering: sometimes if I move the faders, they will go back to the old value instead of sending the new value to Reason/Live... Is this a normal behaviour, maybe some kind of midi delay issue? I guess (or at least hope) they are not broken because all faders have the same behaviour...
Cheers

Re: PLZ help: Question to MCU - faders acting weird!?
you mentioned reason/live...
do you have that behaviour the exact same in both applications (i am actually not aware that reason supports MCU, does it? i hardly ever use reason)
but Live is known to be rather flakey under MCU.

Yeah I get the same behaviour in both Reason 3.0 and Live 8.1. Might be a Win7 64bit problem or do I need to mess with the midi-delaysettings?
Re: PLZ help: Question to MCU Users: faders acting weird or not?
i don't know, i use MCU only via maschine for logic and that works good, even they have still some small flakiness, but that is on the side of maschine and they are about to iron that out.#1thelark wrote:Yeah I get the same behaviour in both Reason 3.0 and Live 8.1. for ableton i use a modified NI ableton / user script template... (i also tried MCU, but it is real flakey with ableton)
guess i can't help.

flaky......how would you describe that?
when i use Maschine to control Live with the mackie template, sometimes the knobs get "stuck" softwarewise, and then make a big jump to the next value.and when moving between pages of pluginparameters i have to press the prev/next page button twice to switch pages.
since i'm on the verge of getting logic studio 9 also,do you experience any stuff like this(or other flaky stuff) in logic?
yes,off-topic,i know.........
anyway,thanks!
back to Maschine now.............
Re: PLZ help: Question to MCU Users: faders acting weird or not?
Anyone with the Mackie Control Unit on his desk plz? Live's emulation might be 'flaky' but I doubt Reason reacts the same way?
Re: PLZ help: Question to MCU Users:are my faders acting normal?
bumpity... Can anyone confirm the faders jumping back to the last value instead of sending the new value? Is that normal or do I have a faulty device? Do I need to set it up in a different way?
Re: Mackie Control Universal: faders jump back to old value?
I don't see how it could be broken if every single fader is acting the same way. The chances of that just seem so unlikely. Rather, there's probably a setting for it. It's late (almost 3 A.M. here) and I can't for the life of me remember what it's called, but many motorized mixers have a "lock" setting that allows you to make temporary changes to the controls, which will then reset to the way that they were.
Also, is it possible the track has automation? That could cause that too.

Re: PLZ help: Question to MCU Users: faders acting weird or not?
well, i only tried MCU for ableton once yet and yes values got stuck at times... but i now only use the NI ableton template and a custom made one, i like those better and i use MCU for logic 8, it sometimes does reflect names not 100% correctly, other than that it's OK, in the beginning i had an issue that the channel groups 1-8 let's say or 9-16 would shift always on to the right, meaning on maschine channel 1 would trigger channel 2 in logic, but for some reason (i don't know what i did in the meantime) that seems to be gone now...33tetragammon wrote:hey Subfunk, you fellow Maschibleton-addict!!!!!!SubFunk wrote:i don't know, i use MCU only via maschine for logic and that works good, even they have still some small flakiness, but that is on the side of maschine and they are about to iron that out.#1thelark wrote:Yeah I get the same behaviour in both Reason 3.0 and Live 8.1. Re: Mackie Control Universal: faders jump back to old value?
Has anyone with a mackie control unit ever noticed the described issue?
Re: Mackie Control Universal: faders jump back to old value?
I don't have a MCU to test this and you say this problem is occurring in reason as well, but did you check in the preferences to turn off "takeover mode"?#1thelark wrote:Has anyone with a mackie control unit ever noticed the described issue?

My MCU does this. If you hold the fader at the position for a few seconds, ableton keeps it there. I'm using ableton's script btw
