Genelec connection question
Re: Genelec connection question
im not sure which size youre getting, but my 8020s fit great on a solid mic stand. no effect on freq response (as far as i can tell). but great for positioning and saves desk space. cheap too

Re: Genelec connection question
well those are TRS (balanced) what you want is TS (unbalanced)Rave wrote:screw soldering, i will get these then

ty
Now for some foam
this is what you want http://www.thomann.de/gb/cordial_ccm_5_mp.htm
just check the length!!! i think those are 5m, might be overkill, keep 'em as short as possible.
looks like those are the shortest at thoman they have: 1.5m http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_sssnake_mx ... okabel.htm
all the quality ones (the link above) are balanced if shorter...
maybe you need to get cables elsewhere...

for 8020s they probably do... but rule of thump is always as stable, non wobbly and solid like a rock as possible... the less the speaker can move in any way the better.swishniak wrote:im not sure which size youre getting, but my 8020s fit great on a solid mic stand. no effect on freq response (as far as i can tell). but great for positioning and saves desk space. cheap too

the reason people use foam shit underneath is for protection of your neighbours but it is evil for the sound, as hard and solid as possible is better for the sound, anything soft is good for neighbours and bad for the sound, so fuck the neighbours, simple.

yeah 5m is too long and i have been looking for a while
i did have the http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_sssnake_mx ... okabel.htm
in my basket but the neutrik point came up
Maybe i will just get them then and upgrade the cables later. One cant have enough cables

just do whatever SubFunk tells you to do. He won't be content unless he has the last word in every genelec topic known to man.

This is a great typo! Normally, it's the rule of thumb, but when discussing speakers it should always be the rule of thump from now on!SubFunk wrote:but rule of thump...

Re: Genelec connection question
It's not obvious at first why the Lemur is so great, especially when considering its new competitor, and how much of a pain it is to get running. But, without a doubt, I am in love. Amazing amazing amazing!skeet wrote:I'm sorry, off topic, but: well, wish you lots of fun with the Touchscreen Animal!@Hidden Driveways wrote: ...and this week a Lemur
You'll love it! Can't live without now...
Re: Genelec connection question
to be honest even neutrik are the best connectors, but they really come to play if you patch permanently around, in a more or less fixed connex with a cable run of 2m there is not really a point to change those simple ones.
save the money.

Re: Genelec connection question
he he, that one is funny indeed, and even true, stable cabinet placement better bass response.8O wrote:This is a great typo! Normally, it's the rule of thumb, but when discussing speakers it should always be the rule of thump from now on!SubFunk wrote:but rule of thump...

Looks like I will be adjusting the bass tilt by -6db as their backs will be very close to a wall.
