A letter from Steve Jobs: Fuck you, Adobe
Re: A letter from Steve Jobs: Fuck you, Adobe
I've heard that Twitter has acquired W3C. Might be rumours.
Re: A letter from Steve Jobs: Fuck you, Adobe
I bought a book about html4 and then the guy wrote that it was actually xhtml which is actually xml.crumhorn wrote:In simple terms "Jobs is lying, two faced, self serving, bastard who distorts the facts to suit his own ends."nebulae wrote:^ I don't really know what you two are saying. And that's making me feel stupid. So fuck you both for making me feel stupid.
I care about this because, in my line of work, the idiotic decisions these people make cost me hours of wasted time.
So I bought a book about xml and it was all very confusing and I ended up concluding that it was all about the api's.
Well the average cunt is lost by now, so I guess I've understood plenty of it.

Hey I know very little about it, but I do think it is. Correct me if I am wrong.H20nly wrote:i learned xhtml 5 or 6 years ago. i don't think i learned xml.

The only program I ever wrote was in Fortran on a DEC.
Re: A letter from Steve Jobs: Fuck you, Adobe
I not saying your wrong or right... I still have the XHTML books from school. I've see plenty of XML files at work, but I don't mess with them, as far as editing is concerned, because I don't think I can.
I'm not going to start saying that I know XML based on this.
stillwriter from your link wrote:1.2. What is XML?
XML™ is the shorthand name for Extensible Markup Language [XML].
XML was conceived as a means of regaining the power and flexibility of SGML without most of its complexity. Although a restricted form of SGML, XML nonetheless preserves most of SGML's power and richness, and yet still retains all of SGML's commonly used features.
While retaining these beneficial features, XML removes many of the more complex features of SGML that make the authoring and design of suitable software both difficult and costly.

I hope you're right actually. I'm certainly going to take a closer look next time I'm digging around on a PC and come across an XML file.

XML itself, the idea, is not that difficult to grasp.H20nly wrote:I hope you're right actually. I'm certainly going to take a closer look next time I'm digging around on a PC and come across an XML file.
To understand the programs that can read and write XML, thats something different.
At least, for me.
Re: A letter from Steve Jobs: Fuck you, Adobe
I guess so.
I'm not very fluid with CSS either and that falls under the same umbrella. I suppose I just never thought XML was so close to HTML.
food for thought. thanks.

This KIND of discussion you all are having right now.... oh god.
That's the kind of discussion that arsehole programmers were having in the days before Flash. When every website ended up looking like this:

this thread is off topic any way.
isn't it about Steve trying to fuck Adobe and Adobe trying to fuck Steve?
they should take turns.
oh, wait... they have been for 20+ years.

Its all about standards, and as wise man said: nice thing about standard is that there are so many of them.
Of course it is about market share.
So if you want to sell bikinis to eskimo's you will have to tell them that it is going to be a very hot summer.
Who cares.
