Ok dudes............... jus got mine. Its terrific, sounds rock, playability is amazing. I'm drooling............

Some issues however:

It took me 2hrs to install the library, not sure if you guys went through that. My PC has 7200 rpm seagate drive and it takes 5-8secs for the samples to load. I've loaded it on C-default drive.

I have an external USB drive- you think I should try that. I will any way cos 8secs to load is a lot!

Any views or experience will help.

doesn't sound right.

i mean the library install is a bit slow compared to the size (i mean the scan first time initial scan)
but the loading should be faster, i had only issues when i used, because of space reasons, an external usb 2.0 drive 5400rpm, there when i browsed and loaded samples had long times and hiccups and little audio dropouts... now i have a larger new internal disk (7200rpm) and it's all fine...

that is on OSX 10.6.3 with a 4gb ram machine...

When you drag audio from the plugin into an audio track in Live the tempo of the clip is always a bit off (eg. 102bpm when the project tempo is 104bpm) - is this Live's fault?

Maschine always adds silence (usually a couple bars) to the end of the audio clip too - is that normal?

somewhere .... theres a preference 'optimize for looping' in 'export audio' window.... can't remember exactly ... not near my maschine set up ... but it sorts the tempo mismatch

i know i started this madness :D . but seriously guys, this is not the NI forum... let's keep it a little ableton live PLUS maschine orientated
respectively questions related to user experience, tips... but this:

Well my question was related to how clips behave in Live.

And dragging audio out is not mentioned in the manual I have (only export audio).

easy, no problem... i just don't want that it gets totally out of hand, well it's my fault to start the madness anyways.

but it is just such a good product that it would have happened anyway, they have to live with that. or do something better... fast, simple as that.

peace.

Maschine's become an all in one solution for me. Between the workflow and the hardware, it keeps all my options right in front of me, it's just perfect "for me" I guess it's just the way I need to work.

Yeah, i've been using it for a total of a few hours and so far it's great. I have that annoying feeling that there's a lot more to learn though, but once I do i'll be really speedy with this thing.

There is, but here's the great thing about it, once you do, everything's a push of a button, and the turn of a knob away....

+1

Or release something like "Maschine4Live" or "Live4Maschine" ...

Live is a serious concurrent to any DAW on the market for workflow ease, but NI has made a major renewal in this department with their maschine,

but now I'm not aiming at seeing new Live upgrades anymore (or perhaps just the ability to receive full multichannel midi from plugins), I just wait for NI to keep on updating so brilliantly their maschine software

Ableton gotta live with that ;)

(anyway maschine will NEVER replace Live, at least for me. It replaces lots of features I used to do with live, but I still do all of this with maschine WITHIN live, and without the Host maschine would be too much limited for me)

cheers

same here, i have zero intension to leave live whatsoever, but for live performances and many other things live certainly takes the backseat.

i don't see maschine as a full replacement at all, it is a very good addition all that said, it can replace live for live use fully that i can see... yes!

and i also agree that it is the workflow king and every other, i think really every other product can learn a lot from that!

there is nothing remotely like it having that kind of flow and integrated fun and easiness for the creation of electronic music.

it's fun to work with, no headaches, nothing... just twiddle, twiddle beats, melodies and grooves...

:D

yep sub', first weeks with the maschine alone were so "headache free" that I was really happy to see that integration within live was NOT 100% easy (*), and that I still could struggle with stuff like IAC driver and complex midi assignations to manage the (almost) perfect integration

(*)= due to 2 major ableton AND maschine missing MIDI features:
1) no MIDI PCs and CCs in maschine
2) no multichannel midi communication between plugins and live

anyway I'm sure 1) will one day be updated by the brilliant NI maschine developper team...

thanks to live, we still can keep on with "nerd brainstorming" while using maschine

boboter wrote:Hi Jake,

when I asked about the resampling function, I meant if it was possible to route a track output of Live into the sample input of Maschine. The goal is to somehow transfer audio from Live's clips into Maschine. It would be great if you could check that out.

Yep, you can do that as well. Only difference is that you need to set the sample input on Maschine to external and then you need to route the audio from a track in live to the track in of the Maschine track. Then you can resample the output of the audio track into maschine.
