20 min Video Tutorial on Making a Track in Ableton Live
Hey guys! I tossed a video together detailing my process from start to finish on making a track in ableton live. A few of you were asking about it, so I put it together. Hope it helps!

Cool tutorial, gives us a nice look into your creative process.
I'm gonna watch it again and write down some cool things I saw.
Peace out man!

Nice tips mate.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I found it also inspiring...thanks!
Could you (or anyone else) tell me how the triggerfinger is programmed in this video? How do you set it up for looping etc.?
Also this is very interesting: making a beat out of nothing just by turning some knobs? How do you do that? Is that a combo of instrument racks and dummyclips or how do you set that up? Thanks for any further explanation...

The trigger finger is a little bit tricky to map! You gotta read through the manual and do it by hand. As for looping, I dont use it for looping because I want all the knobs, faders, and buttons for performance, so I use my nano kontrol for looping. As for turning knobs to make beats, I dont understand what you mean. Could you explain a little more. I am glad to help!

Big ups frobot. Enjoyed the video. Keep up the good work! Nice monitor you've got there, BTW!

So could you explain how the routing and setup for the looping is done (same for the MicroKontrol), I saw this in your vid but I didn't quite get how you set it up for sampling/looping synths.tripandball wrote:so I use my nano kontrol for looping.
In the video you turn some knobs on your vcm 600 and create a beat... are those knobs assigned to the chain selector of an instrument rack or how does the turning of those knobs create sounds?tripandball wrote:As for turning knobs to make beats, I dont understand what you mean. In your videos you showed your drumracks which are completely full with different samples... how do you assign them and let them play a 4/4-beat/16th notes/... are they triggered by dummyclips or how is this done?
Thanks in advance...

Re: 20 min Video Tutorial on Making a Track in Ableton Live
I think you are confused a little. I dont TURN knobs to create beats. They are samples within a track. I only turn knobs to effect them. My launch pad launches them. If you can give me an exact time in the video you are referring too, maybe I can explain better.
As for looping, its pretty straight forward...the buttons are just assigned the blank clips, when you push them, they record. No dummy clips. The trigger finger is mapped to drum racks, the nano kontrol is mapped to clip record buttons.
As for the microkontrol, the buttons are just mapped to record buttons like the nanokontrol. I then use the follow action to put them into audio loops. Its actually pretty easy stuff.

I posted the links with exact time... just click on the links. This is about the knobs turning. You are talking about the element section of the vcm 600... then you turn a knob and there's a beat... I thought this was something achieved through instrument racks or so...
Thanks

Ah ok that. Those are just tracks with my elements section in it. Watch my latest video for how my elements section works. Those are just volume fader on knobs instead of faders. My whole new video explains my elements section.
Re: 20 min Video Tutorial on Making a Track in Ableton Live
Okay, so maybe my thoughts gave you some inspiration how to scroll and select beats/sounds... not that you needed it, I'll try to work on that "wrong" thoughts about chain selector
