automation issue with hardware synth

Post by TeleDanz » Fri May 07, 2010 1:34 pm

I'm using a hardware synth, in this case a moog voyager rme with ableton.

Ableton is sending midi out to the moog and receiving midi from it. I want to record all my automation in Ableton or draw it.

First thing: when I turn knobs on the moog, it allways records the automation in the clip. Is it possible to record automation in the arrangement view?

When recording automation I will have to look down into the dropbox of the clip and see which number has been changed, "controller xx", some have a discription, most of them do not. Is there some kind of template so everything is named correctly? Or can I make one, change the names, and save it for further use.

It would be easier if I could just see, oh, this controller is for Amp release, in stead of having to record me tweaking the knob and looking up which controller is assigned to it.

Help appreciated

1. No. No Midi Data in Arrangement view. Record Clip in Session view, drop to arrangement view!
2. No.
I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now, what I'm with isn't it, and what's "it" seems weird and scary to me.

>v< - that´s the question today

...the work of production is reduction...

I've recently been looking for a visual interface for hardware synths. Some chap has, using max and a combination of other software, created a visual interface for his juno.

is the thread I created yesterday on it. I don't know whether his program is automatable but if it is that would exactly be the type of thing I'd be interested in.
