Simpler: Adjust Sample Length in Sync w-Song Tempo?

Post by kiddid » Sat May 08, 2010 4:17 pm

I've scoured this forum but haven't found anything related to what i'm trying to do...seems like a pretty basic technique. Any assistance would be a massive help!

i want to adjust a sample length IN TIME with the song tempo using an external controller using Simpler.

let's say i've got a single note keyboard sample loaded into simpler. i play a key with my controller and sustain the note for an entire measure. while sustaining this note the sample will repeat as long as the note is held. how do i change the sample length to follow the song tempo, toggling between 4/8/12/16/32nd notes etc.?

super thanks in advance!

A lot of people have requested for the stretching/tempo sync.

There are a few ways to do similar things. One is having an arpeggiator and multiple samples (basically similar to the 'slice to midi')

The other way is a super fine loop, and a clip automation that adjusts the Loop Start point's percentage value at a ramp (per bar, or per half note or etc.). This sounds kind of garbly.

Thirdly there is the option of having your tempo-designated sample warped in Session View, and assigning it to a range of keys on a keyboard. (you can do the same for the play button of that channel to allow you to choose from various samples within that channel). This has the advantage of syncing your clip however you want it warped, but doesn't give you quite the same types of filter/volume/pitch modulations that you would find on a sampler.
