dell xps studio 1645 and launchpad issue

Post by lybation4u » Tue May 11, 2010 2:07 pm

Switching between session, user1, user2 and mixer modes takes a very long time. Instead of all the cells of the launchpad changing colors at the same time it happens one by one. To be clear, I'll bring up Ableton with an empty set, no clips, and have the launchpad on session mode. No cells on the launchpad will be lit as expected. I then switch to mixer mode and the first two columns of the launchpad change colors one cell at a time very slowly, even pausing at certain points. I do not believe this to be an issue with ableton or the launchpad as I have a much older laptop and desktop running the same os and version of live where this does not happen. I've also turned off every possible service/power management/device I could think of, any ideas?

Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit
Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Quad Core Processor 1.6GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)
4GB Shared Dual Channel DDR3 at 1333MHz
Ableton 8.1.3

Hi,

I had the same problem on my PC with Windows 7 x64. I did have the Launchpad connected to a Belkin 7-port hub. I connected it directly to one of the USB ports on the PC, and the problem was solved.
So, if you are running this on a hub, try connecting directly.

I have tried it with and without a hub, still the same problem. I have no other peripherals attached to the machine. I agree that it seems like a usb problem, and I read on some forum that the people were having trouble syncing their ipods/iphones via usb on laptops with the intel pm55 chipset, but Dell claims to have addressed this issue with the latest bios. I'm most likely going to return the laptop, just thought I'd check to see if anyone else experienced this issue and knew how to resolve it.

Does the Launchpad have 64 bit drivers for win 7???

Any other launchpad users using win 7 64 can maybe chime in here ....

I don't have quite the same issue, but there is definite and frustrating lagtime between when I hit the different mode buttons and when the pads respond, and I'm on Win7 x64.

No problems at all with the APC

I'm running the launchpad and live without issue on my desktop which is win 7 64, so I don't think that's the problem.
