Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
has anyone been able to get the mystical LockButton user script to work? I may be dead by weeks end trying to figure this out. It's so annoyingly frustrating going through scenario after scenario trying to get it to work only to fail over and over and over. Ultimately I want to make it work with my APC, but I'll settle for my nanoPAD - can't even get that to work.3dot... wrote:there's a parameter there called 'lock' under the 'band buttons'...anamexis wrote:what lock button do you mean?
it's supposed to lock the controller to a it's current device... (and not move the blue hand around...)
it used to work...
but right now (L8) it's the only thing in the user-script that's not working..
Seriously I've put in about 10hours on this subject this week and it's driving me BATSHIT CRAZY!
Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
Nobody?
I have the broken LockButton issue posted in like 4 threads and I submitted it to support. I have zero answers, or even a reply, from ANYONE in like a week now!? What gives?!
It's as if mentioning LockButton or userconfiguration.txt scares people like the freaking boogeyman!

Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
uh, oh, it scares me a lot. locking the blue hand .... handcuffs ...
no seriously, I never used that locking parameter. I just assign a button to the effectrack in each channel, press it and twiddle knobs.
But I can fully understand your anger about noone of the pros on board answering on your issue. It's a pity that the userconfiguration script is not getting develop further. suppose the standard answer for the future will be "m4l".

Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
I'd take M4L as an answer if the LockButton wasn't a built-in feature already! It worked in Live 7, and now it's broken in Live 8.
Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
*sticky*
M4L robble robble robble
Throw money at it robble robble
Sounds like the U.S. Government's favorite solution.
fix it? but then we have to admit that its broken...

Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
i need that blue hand to be the sticky! just stay put blue hand. is that too much to ask?
its funny, after troublshooting the LockButton thing for like the entire week last week, I went into MIDI map mode in Live last night, and i got all excited because the hand is almost the same color light purpley-blue that shows up when something is mappable. Obviously it didn't work, but that would have been pretty retarded if I wasted my time and all I had to do was click the blue hand in map mode.
*sigh*
i've just about given up. ableton is ignoring me. the boards are ignoring me. but I guess that's what I get for ignoring my gf.
I think I may need to offer a cash reward if I don't hear from someone by the end of the week. i really need this lock button to work. it's like the crowning jewel in my custom APC40 controller assignment masterpiece!

Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
What an immensly helpful thread. Didnt even know this feature (well, I obviously saw the "blue hand"), but now I think I understand everything I need to get Live setup for some realtime tweaking. Thanks to anyone who shared their knowledge in this thread. Cant wait to get home to my UC-33e and Keystation pro-88 after reading this
Cheers! (free beers this weekend on me, or I would if I could)

Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
I think they fixed it already...I remember seeing it in one of the betas change-log
I've already changed my whole setup to be used another way..(like pepezabala does)
so hadn't tested it yet...

Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
Doh! Just a friendly tip for those of you that venture into editing the Userconfig.txt file.
If you, like me, use different channels than the default global channel (listed as 0 in the file), be aware that you need to add one number for the given channel. 0 is actually 1. For instance, if you are using 4 as the global channel on a device, type 3 in the txt file. If you want 13, type 12 and so forth. No wonder the default channels are listed as -1.
I monkeyed around two hours or so, thinking there was something else wrong with my script/setup, before I realized this.
Maybe you wont have to.
In other news, its really great when it works as intended
Thanks again.

Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
and praise the OP and all that contributed their knwoledge,
and another praise to ChrisIhao for resurrecting this.
Are there more lazy pigs like me,
who wish there also was a scene-data-file provided that looks like the picture on page 2
to go with this UserConfig?
well I shall henceforth provide it here:
careful, this one sends on channel 16, but here is a slightly modified Conf
it adds the Volume of the first 8 tracks to faders 1-8, the Master to fader9
the buttons on 9 provide bank up/down for the blue hand parameters
thanks again, folks!
I'm putting this on scenes 1 & 3, so that the scene-button acts like a toggle between The Hand and MMM
I'm going home
Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
wow thats great. Only no endless rotaries so any chance that the buttons can have a midi pickup mode?
Re: praise the blue-hand-midi-assigning in live 8
Yep, you can have endless. You set this under "preferences".JAMM wrote:wow thats great. Only no endless rotaries so any chance that the buttons can have a midi pickup mode?
