Album is finished, all done in Ableton
Re: Album is finished, all done in Ableton
Jimmy wanted to add to the bassline, so he redid it and sent it to me for a mix. Here's the alternate version: http://nebulae.bandcamp.com/track/sunda ... -alternate

^ nice... you do it justice.
did you add that bottomless reverb to her voice? I love it. its really deep but not really wide, if that makes sense. in other words, it doesn't carry on for longer than it should time wise but goes off in the distance where its at...behind the song instead of along with it. hard to explain but sweet to hear. most noticeable at the beginning of the song where she says "open the windows wide" - fitting.
I'm guessing plug, but if there's a standard trick to get that, and you feel like sharing, I'd be most grateful for a PM...

No need to PM, as it's not really a secret trick. I have an ArtsAcoustic reverb on Send 1, and I usually dial up the second preset called Long Gone or something like that. I muffle the top end, and then dial the tail down to about 5-6s, which is still very long, but without the high end, there's just roomy mids in the verb tail.
Then I compress the ass out of the vocal so it feels really up front, and then I'll send about 33% to the verb. So you have an upfront vocal, but the send gives you that nice roomy tail in the back. Sits nicely in a mix.
The backing/secondary vocal has a delay on the insert, and I usually let that get all washy, as is the case in this song.

Thanks! I had a great voice to work with - pleasure was all mine. Mind you, not carnally, of course.

I was mainly concerned about how Mrs. Lux feels about it.

Re: Album is finished, all done in Ableton
Great album, congrats! Lovely tracks, really well done, the music speaks, grooves, wobbles, dubs, breathes!
And great sound, and yes, first time I'm hearing tracks with vocals all done in Live! Great!
Hope you get it out there a lot!
Warm Grtz,
Heiko
