What Hulu/GE is really saying is "Didn't we just launch this shit? How much will this rework cost us? Fuck that!". In old world corporate mentality several years is "just launched".

Hulu is a GE site, one of the oldest companies in the country and one of biggest in the world and they spent plenty of time and money making it extremely difficult to pirate content from their site. They're in no mood to rework it.LoopStationZebra wrote:Old world? Hulu? I mean...

I'm just saying that Hulu is highly proprietary with their video streaming so I wouldn't look to them as an example of web standards.
I'd even say the vast majority of people hadn't even heard of HTML5 until this whole iPad Flash situation and Apple finally addressing it publically and directly so I wouldn't expect it to be completely flawless and ready. In a way the announcement was forced, maybe Apple mistakenly thinking the public would just ignore the whole Flash issue a bit longer.
And I've said it before, Apple has a history of releasing hardware and software technology changes that the rest of the market isn't quite ready for yet, my favorite being getting rid of serial and SCSI ports in favor of firewire and USB when there was hardly any hardware using that technology out on the market yet.

^ thus forcing its user base to change or rather, spend more money.
don't give em too much credit though... Intel, Compaq, Microsoft, NEC, Digital Equipment Corporation, IBM, and Nortel created USB... Apple didn't make the list.

Yeah sometimes going Apple is like dating a hot chick with kids. They're not yours but they're well behaved and maybe it's time to grow the fuck up and adopt something that is greater than just you.H20nly wrote:^ thus forcing its user base to change or rather, spend more money.

i was going to respond with info about me being a single dad and mom living 2000+ miles away, then i decided your analogy sucks.
Apple is... good... but lets not get too profound. They're in it for the money. And they don't need you to step up and adopt their product... they whore it out to anybody (who's got the loot).

there's no need... face it, there's nothing permanent except change and they have every intention of nickel and dime-ing folks to the bitter end.
