Can anyone tell my why loops in Live glitch/stutter when rewired in Logic's cycle mode?
Surely they must have sorted this out by now?

Could somebody please help explain how to avoid this, or perhaps even address the matter!
I purchased Logic specifically as a rewire device for LIVE.

Sample Rates
Check the sample rates of your audio samples.
Live allows you to mix and match sample rates in a Live set, while Logic does not. So you need to make sure that all the samples being used by Live are the same rate when rwiring into Logic.
I had this same problem last week, and it was due to differing sample rates in the audio material I was using in Live.

Sample Rate Conversion
You can check the sample rate in the "sample display" window in Live, or by checking the properties using the Quicktime player.
To convert the samples just export/render them using Live, or with the QuickTime player.
When importing files directly into a Logic project, you can check the "Convert Audio File Sample Rate When Importing" option (p.61 Logic 7 manual). This is another way to convert your files.

I'm sorry but I don't agree here...
I've NEVER had to keep their sample rates the same in the last 2 years running Live ReWired to Logic...
I've never seen Ableton recommend this.
You DO need to check the OSX AudioMidiSetup ap & make sure the sample rate there matches Logics (or vice versa)... Otherwise you have realtime sample rate conversion happening which will cause glitchy audio.
(Live only runs as rewire Slave to Logic and its audio prefs changes its sample rate to 'auto' unless you manually set it...)
Two other tips,
1. some need to run a logic seq for a moment BEFORE launching Live as rewire slave - I guess it sets up the rewire bus properly..
2. You should avoid using the first few measures as a loop in Logic.

1) when you say run a sequence, does it matter if I run a Logic set, the open a new one and immediately rewire, or do I have to run a sequence each time I load a set? An, if this is the case, what kind of sequence? four bars of evoc?
2)In regard to avoiding using the first bars in Logic, I understand you to mean avoiding them for editing purposes? Does it take amoment for everything to sync, or could I just move the bar up to bar 4 or 8 and start recording loops immediately there?

1) I believe you can run a blank seq... maybe important to have a ReWire object in the Environment. Suppose you could do 'a trial by error' to see if it's necessary... or open a Apple Logic Template with ReWire in it.. Run it for 2 seconds to send some type of communication going... hit stop, open Live.
2) I believe the issue is to avoid the first measure or 2 in Logic is because it avoids count in problems and reWire loop behaviour there... Just start all songs after measure 2... I start at measure 10 to have a round #.
