I "totally" agree, risome1. I use debit cards online all the time and no issues. Furthermore, most banks take responsibility for card fraud. Credit or otherwise.

the bank has said I will get it back but it could take 6-8 weeks. That was our living on cash so we're kinda screwed.... so yeah I guess there is a lot to be said for keeping separate accounts for things like that

all the transactions were to a Madrid based Renfe-001 which google tells me is something to do with trains! So maybe the Spanish rail workers have a bit of a rort going on!
