multiple directories for vst's

Post by tha_metman » Sun May 16, 2010 2:12 am

is there a way to tell ableton to read vst's from multiple folders? not just the one designated under preferences...

You can put shortcuts to vsts or to folders in the folder designated as Ableton's vst folder.

I make an empty folder for Ableton that is nothing but shortcuts. You can even make multiple folders for different situations (live, production, other) so that you don't always have to wait on Live to load up your entire stock of vsts.

I've found that making shortcuts to other folders inside of the default VST folder makes Live much slower to start up but otherwise it works.

Now I just have a folder named C:\VstPlugins\ where everything is installed.
All VSTs let you choose where you want to install them.
