Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
Serious question - After many of the random crashes I will have with using Live (8 in particular) I really have find myself wondering if I can trust it in a live situation. What sucks as much as the crashs I have is the fact that I have to contemplate this. I have some invites to do some some shows soon & I've been considering bouncing all material to the Maschine workflow & just use Maschine in stand-alone mode outside of Ableton. But fuck that...ya know?

I would probably trust Live 7, & may trust Live 8 after further testing. But gig with Live 8 today, this minute? No.
Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
I'm more scared to use Sony ACID while on acid.

But, scared that I don't have the logic to use LOGIC.
Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
by that Logic I wouldn't use an Apple product live.

or have the audacity to use AUDACITY.
(ok, I should stop now)

That's a pretty scary question. I'm glad I don't have to consider it because I'm just a studio musician at this stage.

Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
Been using it every weekend at my residency; no complaints other than a nasty crash I experience if I try to click into a spot on a track and launch a clip from my launchpad simultaneously.
Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
I've actually experienced more crashes live with Live 7 than Live 8. weird.
Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
it has sadly taken totally a backseat for me.
not using it live at all anymore, only once since 8 (that was actually just after 8 came out at an ALUGB meeting)
it got better now, at least i can use it again, but live use ~ absolute no way, neither for jobs (unless i am on my own and i don't have to face embarrassment in front of a client) i love to use it in conjunction with maschine a lot now, especially with drag & drop, less as a plugin...
it got better, i mean 8.1.3 thanks for that... but it is still far away from being real good.
but i have faith they will further improve. (i hope, i hope, i hope)

I sat here pondering on why anyone would be scared of running live lite.
i really need new glasses.

OK this is a matter of taste, but i find maschine also so much more fun and way more intuitive and spontanious for jamming / playing / rocking live...squelcht wrote:I have some invites to do some some shows soon & I've been considering bouncing all material to the Maschine workflow & just use Maschine in stand-alone mode outside of Ableton. but that might be biased because i used long before computers a korg ER-1 / EA-1 combo just via two midi cables and that was awesome

Re: Anyone else scared to use Live LIVE?
WOW, sorry you guys are having such bad luck.
8.1.3 is running just fine for me, besides a few random crashes which does not happen often enough to worry me, not any more than guitar amp failure, analogue synth issues, or power outages.
I'm taking my chances and enjoying it.
I did do a clean install upon 8.1.3 though. Seems to always help.

8.0.9 here and running fine. There's always the worry about something bad happening, but you prepare for the worst and enjoy the best. I think one of the key things is to have your set ready to jam on straight through so you don't open new projects, copy/paste, move clips, etc. Those are the things that crash most it seems... I think..
To continue... Anyone have the reason to use Reason? Recently have been thinking of just plowing through my sets with Traktor though.
