I tried Cubase!

Post by simpleton » Tue May 18, 2010 9:24 pm

It felt like I was back in 1999. OK, to be fair it was Cubase LE4. But still. Got tired of Sonar endless menus and crackling and stuff. I think I've been spoiled by Live all these years.

Anything you're not familiar with feels like this when you first try it.

Live was a culture shock for me at first, a long time Cubase user. I appreciate both.

A few years ago I thought it would be great to learn all DAWs to dominate the world 8) , I was using only Cubase then, I made my list to learn:
1) Nuendo
2) Sonar
3) Fruity Loops
4) Reason
5) Ableton
6) A lot more

I read an article of BT talking about Ableton Live, then I changed the order Ableton Live 1st & Reason 2nd, I was so amazed that I never touched all rest of DAWs, today I still use only Live & Reason + Sample Libraries + 3rd party AU/VSTis, I'm learning Logic Pro but not really that interested at all..... It was 1999 also when I started to learn this thing about making music... (I sucked by then.. and I'm very sure I still do  LOL).

I like Cubase, it dosent allow you to do anything foolish. There are worthwhile/useful sonic boundries present. I am (learning to)using Cubase 5, however I now use Live to finish mixing. I also use Reason, mostly for drum rolls.
