Speaking of Flying Lotus, an interesting quote from him:
"I think Maschine is a really great tool for producers who want to throw their MPCs in the garbage."
I wonder if he uses it in Live?

Venetian Snares is a huge Renoise user, he has done Renoise tutorial videos and has downloadable renoise project files you can download (like Live .als sets).

These guys are really great and use Renoise too.

I live in the same city as Hunz. Seen him play live and meet him a few times, top guy.
The guy who mixed his last album is currently mixing and mastering my album. http://mmdmastering.thequietrevolution.net/
I after hearing Hunz album, I hunted down his mix engineer.

Plus, Hunz's last album is free. Can't top that.

Excellent.

I downloaded the free album and was impressed.

Soon, Soon is also one of the default Renoise 2.5 project files/sets which you can play around with etc.

I tried giving Renoise a crack with that remix. Didn't pan out to well of me. I likes me Abletons. :P

When he does that song live he does this really cool vocal looping layering at the start.

Very full sounding band for 3 piece. Really rocks out.

albums to check out:

Tipper: seamless unspeakable nothing, relish the trough, tip hop, wobble factor (others are great too but that covers most of his bases)

Kilowatts: ground state

Ochre: http://soundcloud.com/ochre/ochre-live- ... h-jan-2007 (download @ http://www.percussionlab.com/sets/ochre ... _prototype )

Wisp: I dont even know where to start. There's a page with his older albums for free here: http://www.wisp.kaen.org/ . but his new stuff is farkin awesome too

a word about ground state: treat the entire album as one song. listen to it from beginning to end, dont skip around. Kilowatts is a master of timing, he drags everything out to perfection. You will lose this if you jump tracks or skip around each one. I say this because I usually "test" new artists by rushing through albums to get an "idea" of what the sound is and whether I like it, and as a result I managed to disregard this album for years. Then by a random stroke of luck I heard it from beginning to end at a fry party, and it completely blew me away. Easily one of the best albums Ive ever heard. Dont make the same mistake I did
