Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
Maschine leads me to discover some limitations in live that I was not aware of, and that never were any problem for me before, so that's live fault, but without maschine, these problems would not arise for me!!!
anyway, I'm now understanding I have to go the standalone way...
and use soundflower or jack to route the audio back in live...
and I'll have to make multiple loads / reloads of projects during long live sets...
anyway, thanks
feedback when I'm really happy with that setup

if you "make" duplicate on Mac will it work to have two? or one stand alone for midi and one vst for other things.supamonsta wrote:Maschine leads me to discover some limitations in live that I was not aware of, and that never were any problem for me before, so that's live fault, but without maschine, these problems would not arise for me!!!

Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
Quick question on using Maschine as a MIDI controller in Live! Are y'all using the pre-set Ableton-approved template, or have you created your own controller script? Or, further still, are you just hard-mapping everything with Apple+M?
I'm not finding the Ableton template conducive to my workflow when DJ-ing. However, I can't seem to get the pads to respond in the same way (flashing when tracks are playing) when I hard map.
Thoughts?

After a little rooting in the editor software, I've found that the propriatary control can be re-programmed into any template; win.
Working on it now...

Right now I'm using the Mackie Control template for Live and third party plugs. I also like the LiveMaschine template by fragmented which instantly maps to Drum Racks (which I don't use anymore because of Maschine).logic_user99 wrote:Quick question on using Maschine as a MIDI controller in Live! I don't know what you do mean by "make duplicate"...if you "make" duplicate on Mac will it work to have two? or one stand alone for midi and one vst for other things.
I didn't try using standalone + VST simultaneously, could give it a try...
Cheers

i use a mixture, the NI template and my own one switching between the two.logic_user99 wrote:After a little rooting in the editor software, I've found that the propriatary control can be re-programmed into any template; win.

while all you nice chaps are here I would ask you, will maschine make use of a quad core system by amd or intel?
I'm looking to get a good system soley for using Live and maschine together but someone in another thread i started for computer specs said something about live not using all the cores, is this the case with maschine also or no such problem, and while i'm hear might as well ask for recommendations for cpu and ram.
thanx to everyone

oOo :
maschine WITHIN live (VST) => Live will handle CPU and memory, with its own limitations
maschine standalone : I don't know if maschine uses multicore, but even using only one core, this will be good
cheers

as far as i know maschine want not allow you to run it standalone and as a plugin simultaneously.supamonsta wrote:I don't know what you do mean by "make duplicate"...if you "make" duplicate on Mac will it work to have two? or one stand alone for midi and one vst for other things.![]()

Re: The Maschine & Ableton Love Thread ;) [upon user request]
and no way to run 2 standalone instances on the same computer I guess
well, after all that time struggling with my ideal setup, no way, then I felt a bit annoyed and disappointed by maschibleton,
then I'm now accepting these limitations, and re-building my live/composition setup on this reality
and it's still lots of fun, I passed thru a 2-days depressive mood, then I'm feeling good again
(just the need to use soundflower or jack that still pisses me off, but it's no real problem...)
Maschine still keeps the central position in the setup, and i'ts great
cheers

"make duplicate" stand-alone

works but you cant make changes in Library (add samples etc) with the second instance
the same trick work if you want to run 2 Live on Mac.
did it helped?
Tasos

this kinda works, but i think you get into trouble trying the standalone and plugin version at once...
i will try that though... but i recall it is not possible.

so you're saying it's better to not use maschine inside live, just have them open at the same time, or just one at a time?supamonsta wrote:oOo :
