axiom pro or novation mk2
axiom pro or novation mk2
Hi,
there seems to be a lot of different opinions out there. Which one works more intuitive with live?
One thing which interests me a lot:
Does anybody know if you can overrite the predefined assignments on any of those two controllers? I guess it works via the automap software for the mk2, but I heard different things. Not sure if there is a way to do achieve it in the axiom pro. Example: I would like to have analalogs saw pulse width on rotary one whenever I select analog and not whatever they put there as a default.
If yes, are you able to store that assignment with that instrument of fx?
Thanks for your help

I think you cant change Abletons "factory mappings" on the Novation.. It maps 8 selected knobs to the 8 360 encoders on the top. You can get around it with making an instrument rack and assigning knobs you want to the macros.
Automap wont work with Lives native plugins. Only with external VST's or what ever you use.

The Novation MkII just got some new integration with Ableton live! Go for it!

Re: axiom pro or novation mk2
jesus,
this is all quite horrible... nothing seems to work. I am totally confused. Maybe something cheaper then.
Does anyone know if you can overrite any assignemts on other pre-mapped Ableton supported controllers. Like the Oxygen? I am just wondering... in case you do not like the predefined mapping... what are your options? Can you chnange and make that your new default.
Assuming I want to change how they mapped operator but I like how they mapped the delay.
.... geeez

Re: axiom pro or novation mk2
the axiom pro is pretty solid. If your on window 7 I'd wait or look else where cause there still working on drivers after what seems like forever.
To give you a run down on the axiom pro. The pad are solid, the knobs and faders are pretty good, the key bad is shaped like a classic piano, and the control for ableton and a bunch of other daw are great out of the box.
I'll tell you that If I had it to do over I go with the akai boards (i've got the mpk 25 but I'd get the 61). The only thing I do not like about the akai boards are the pads (just the feel and responsiveness) The keys feel better, the knobs and faders are much better, and the arp/latch that is built in is useful for live performance tricks.
As far as novation just read the thread and I think you get the picture.
Also the korg line is solid
Just opinions

Novation is windows 7 64 bit friendly. The only time my xstation takes a dump on me us when I am using adobe sound booth cs4. Emulator x3 and live 8 all work with my xstation
