Help Ableton Live 4 Problem

Post by Deepboy » Wed Apr 20, 2005 10:20 am

I stupidly changed the settings on Ableton Live to scan my c drive for VST instruments instead of just the vst folder and now it just keeps on crashing, I have uninstalled the software & reinstalled it but it still keeps on crashing.
Just wondering if anyone knows how to help me on this without re-formatting the whole computer.

Try deleting your preferences file...

Hi Deepboy,

on Windows the preferences file is located here:

"C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Ableton\Live 4.1.2\Preferences\Preferences.cfg"

By default the Application Data folder can be hidden so maybe you have to change your file and folder settings to see it.

Alex

Hi Deepboy,

Does this work for all software applications??
Not in general. It depends totally on the application if and where it stores preferences or if the application at all has preferences.

regards,
Alex
