If i hear another house track with one of those filtered white-noise 'woooosh' sounds, I'll fucking kill myself.

I need to stop checking out other folk's music.

 NO SHIT

@supamonsta - I feel you bro. It doesn't just start/end there. How do I make this snare/kick sound - How do I make a FUCKING BASS WARBLE (man I wanna punch a baby when someone asks that)

Just start making fkn music guys. Let YOUR direction make the sound. When I got my first drum machines & groove sequencer boxes I didn't ask anybody SHIT. I just dissected the shit out of it & learned the fundamentals of electronic music production without intent to learn electronic music production. I was just making noises. I didn't know WTF step sequencing - But I learned it naturally.

The industry has shifted. Kids don't go to guitar shops & buy guitars to rock out like their heros - They now buy laptops & pirate fkn music programs. Don't get me wrong, its rather interesting (besides the pirating) however oh so weird at the same time.

thanks mate, I'm not alone.

exactly the same for me (began with Fast tracker II, then roland dr202, yamaha QY700, RM1X, then fruity loops, samplers... then ableton live...)
We were all beginners at one time. Chill..
I can't chill when I see these kinda posts. You're right when you say we were all beginners at one time, absolutely right. But we didn't ask people to teach us how to make pro sounding techno music, did we? We asked for advices on this or that technique, this or that software, this or that groovebox...

I can see at least 3 threads a week like "How to make a pro-sounding beat"...

If nobody reacts, then music is dead.

my 2cents

cheers

i feel your rage, but really we all started somehwere...

i do agree on the way people asking questions these days, they all seem to want to make a floor shaker within 3 days :|

no patience involved anymore, at least it seems.

or "nowhere"

I don't think I'm really raging, just upset, maybe I could change the thread's title...
they all seem to want to make a floor shaker within 3 days
that's what annoys me the most.
I'm pretty sure talented artists make hits in 3 days. But these kids, gosh, fierce and pretentious kids, do they REALLY think they'll make dancefloor killer tracks in 3 days, without any musical background????

their questions are insults to my ears, not that I'm a pro, I'm not, I'm also just a wannabe, but I, and most of you my ableton-forum-fellows, have a quite good musical background, instrument and theory practice, and lots of gear/experimentation/practice years...

we are still not releasing any "pro level" stuff, well, most of us, and we work hard since years to reach our little semi-pro or amateur level,

and these kids, gosh, they come in with their arrogance (or dumbness?) and proudly ask "I wanna make tracks like justice, deadmau5, explain this to me FROM SCRATCH", shameless, they ask "teach me how to make kickass groovy house beats"... 8O

Well maybe should I chill out... but these dumbasses irritate me...

As annoying as the repeat questions might be, the scarier part is many a successful house song could be written on little more than applying the responses in these threads. Go browse through the house tracks on beatport and how much of the songs do you think is actual music writing and originality compared to how much is the same tired sounds, formulas, patterns, and production techniques.

right, so many times I listen to house / elecro house DJ mixes and I say "wow, that sample/sound again"???

anyway, most of the greatests hits on the radio are shite with so few talent in it (or is it business talent)

talent doesn't make success, but we're going in another discussion now
