velocity controls macro?
is it possible to assign the macro of a instrument rack to be controlled by the velocity of midi input from the same track?
Re: velocity controls macro?
Each note has its own velocity -- so, if you were to play a chord, wouldn't that cause the macro to bounce around as each note contributes its velocity value to the situation?

Re: velocity controls macro?
ok so i wont play a chord, i just want to control the macro knob with incoming midi velocity. please say its possible ? i wont play chords i promise

Create a Midi Rack from a Velocity plug.auto-lock wrote:ok so i wont play a chord, i just want to control the macro knob with incoming midi velocity. please say its possible ? i wont play chords i promise

Thank you ze2be that is actually an interesting idea to experiment with! but it is not whan i mean, i want the opposite i need to control the knob with velocity that i will input from a percussion pad.ze2be wrote:Create a Midi Rack from a Velocity plug.auto-lock wrote:ok so i wont play a chord, i just want to control the macro knob with incoming midi velocity. please say its possible ? i wont play chords i promise

Re: velocity controls macro?
by knob i meant the macro knob
Re: velocity controls macro?
OK, I tried it for you with a nano pad. You can try different settings on your midi controller. I tried the two options that sends variable midi data: note w/toggle and note w/momentary. When using Midi Automation (upper right corner in Live) it will only receive min or max value. Doesn't seem to pick up velocity. I think you need Max, or some other app to do this. I cant help you from here, sorry.auto-lock wrote:is it possible to assign the macro of a instrument rack to be controlled by the velocity of midi input from the same track?

Re: velocity controls macro?
128 chains in an midi/instrument rack, spread across a the velocity selector

but i am stoned so that doesn't make sense...
Re: velocity controls macro?
I can see how you'd have 127 chains, all activated by different velocities, but how would you output that data to control the value of a macro knob?
Re: velocity controls macro?
I do this with bomes + padkontrol by converting note velocity to CC values
Re: velocity controls macro?
Do you have Max For Live? I've been working on a MFL-based Macro control that can be modulated with velocity.auto-lock wrote:is it possible to assign the macro of a instrument rack to be controlled by the velocity of midi input from the same track?
I've tried pure midi mapping via some midi translator workaround, but it made the Macros jump too abruptly and didn't work well with chords. In the MFL device, the Note Velocity actually triggers an ADSR to control the Macro. This sounds more musical and is great to control a Drive or Delay amount via Note Velocity. A great way to get more expressive sounds IMO.
PM me if you like - I'll finish the patch some time in July and be happy to send it over.
