Ableton testers for "Waves"
Re: Ableton testers for "Waves"
Not to wish harm upon the waves company but,
I hope waves go's out of business.
what kind of slimey back stabbing weasels send goons to studio's and basically black mails studio owners into a purchasing their software.
beta test...
you want feedback.. your plug ins work like shit.. the gui's are horrible and fiddly at best.
they are over priced. and to similar to each other. and your marketing reeks of gimmick.
how many compressors do we really need?
10 grand for a suite of redundant plug ins?
Its software!
yes i understand it took some one time to code this software but like i already stated its also redundant software.

@ nathann, even i agree that not all waves are up to snuff, but some of their stuff is sonically on the very top of the game. (like the renaissance comp for example)

They went after STUDIOS because studios CHARGED people many hundreds, thousands and sometimes tens of thousands of dollars, yet ran cracked copies of Waves. This is a bit different to going after some spotty 14 year old teen nerd.
They then gave the studios the option to basically buy the software for $7500, which is less than the TDM Protools version of Waves Mercury ($11k). Which seems like rewarding them to me. If you are studio business charging upwards of $30 per hour using cracked software, you deserve to be sued for using warez.

if the reason behind them suing was because of shady studio practices then good for wave's and once again internet fail to me.

Re: Ableton testers for "Waves"
jaded waves owner here...
What will Waves offer the users in return for their time and experience?
Surely Waves knows the value of these beta testers and would never think that the glory of being a "beta tester" is a fair trade.
Will Waves include some sort of promo code to unlock a plugin of choice? Extend WUP? $100 gift card?
Honestly, what is Waves offering in return for this valuable market research? I'm a bit saddened to think Waves will be taking advantage of more users than they already have.

Re: Ableton testers for "Waves"
I keep my Ableton beta testing honour and glory right up their with the purple heart and victoria cross.
Takes a brave man indeed to step into the beta arena of the crashtastic Live 8 and M4L. Hold on your to your horses, we're going to lead a charge over the top - tally-ho !
Of course Waves are not going to pay Joe Bloggs anything to test their stuff - they already have a alpha list of grammy award wining producers and engineers who they might give inducements to. Public beta testing would be worse than the opening of Boxing Day sales at Harrods, an almighty winner takes all scrum for a piece of the tasty pie - it's already like that with Live beta testing even though the testers get Sweet Fanny Adams recompense...
