Drum & keyboard midi crossover problem

Post by darrencullen » Thu Jun 03, 2010 6:56 pm

Hey,
I've got an unsupported midi keyboard (directly in via usb) and a tmc-6 midi converter for drums going through a sound card.
In ableton I've got one track with a drum rack on it and one track with the keyboard sampler, they're both armed at the same time.

My problem is that sometimes there is a crossover, certain notes on the keyboard will play bits from the drum rack. I tried to lock them to their control surfaces but it seems this is only available for supported devices. Is there any way of making the drums rack only respond to signals from the sound card/tmc and vice-versa?

Much thanks

Darren

You'll need to go into your control editor for each device and ensure that they're on separate midi channels. If they are both going through the main, Live will simply trigger whatever's mapped to a key or control, irrespective of which controller it's coming from.

I had the same issue a while back, and this was the answer.
