i just wanted to say that i do understand your frustration about the fact that DJs don't know there tracks and artists who created them,

is by no means an exception, it is more then the reality my point is if i get or find tracks like that, i will surely play it if it is up to snuff, i am not going to not playing it because it is poorly tagged, so even you sake i could not by all means give you an answer (and other DJs, just saying me as an example)

and that was especially with electronic music always like that, during times of only vinyl have been already thousands of so called white labels around... i found many, many of those in second hand shops or got them even send... go figure, i picked them because the music worked, no clue who made the tune.

thanks for support, I was only speaking of SOME DJs around me that often (bu not allways) don't know the artists they play, and they are mixing with vinyles, and no white tracks, so they got everything to be able to know...

they just... don't give a shit... or just lazy to do some research when it's not obvious.
but again, I don't want to be pissing on DJs, I'm speaking of DJs around me... in my little town... lol

all the digital DJs I know, though, actually know what they mix for around 95% of their playlists (having traktor or serato displaying tracks and artists names do help a lot, and yes, when it's on the rotating vinyle, it's hard to read!!! and often artist names are not written on both sides, or just on the disc "pocket" (I don't know in english...)

for the topic you quote, and no-tag mp3s, this could be the "renewal" of white labels...

it's another discussion, mp3s don't have the vinyle particularity, to be released in a definite number of copies...

Rarity now becomes... well... rare

it is rubbish to compare DJs with bands as in i don't know who played... you go for a DJ because of the vibe and the fact he rocks a floor and not because he plays guy blah blahs latest release.

i for example absolute never give out playlists, you like the music i select and mix, you have to come to listen to me spinning somewhere, or stay home or find your own tunes.
