audio syncing

Post by mister9 » Wed Jun 09, 2010 7:19 pm

When I load pre-recorded audio waves into Live I find that sometimes they lose their original tempo. It happens on one out of every 3 or 4 waves. When I return to my audition software to play the same waves in that session, they are in time to the tempo.
Is there something that has to be done to an audio wave to make sure it doesn't lose it's tempo before loading it into Live? :?

By default Live "warps" most incoming audio clips. It will then play along with the project tempo. You can untick the warp button on each clip to have them play back as normal, but you lose the ability to loop and do other funky things. You need to learn to use the warp modes properly and you'll be able to get the results you want.

Also, what length are the clips? In the preferences there is a setting called "Auto-Warp Long Samples", if this is turned off you will find short samples are always warped and long ones (full songs etc) are not.

There is plenty of info around the forum and in the Live manual. Try some of the basic lessons in Live to get your head around it properly.

Hope this helps.
