NI Maschine VS. Logic 9 ?
hey guys
im a house music dj and trying to get into production. i already have the Ableton 7 and wanted to purchase either Logic Pro 9 or the NI Maschine, the question i had is which one is better for house music production and which one comes with more sounds and instruments that i can use for house music ?

I've been playing and learning Logic Pro 9, it's great piece of software but it doesn't beat Ableton Live (IMO), never used Maschine, what I recommend you is to youtube both something like "How to _________ on Logic Pro 9 / Maschine" ... Youtube and/or Google are the perfect places to give you an idea....
Logic Studio comes with a HUGE sound library (8dvds)
... I don't know Maschine...

Re: NI Maschine VS. Logic 9 ?
Maschine cannot be compared with a DAW like Ableton Live or Logic. Maschine is more a software emulation of a mpc with a special controller & software, can also be used as vst. if you own live, buy a launchpad or apc and have fun. if not try maschine, it seems a lot of fun.

the answer to this precise question is : Logicthe question i had is which one is better for house music production and which one comes with more sounds and instruments that i can use for house music ?
Maschine don't have any VST / plugin, only is a sound player, beat recorder à la MPC, sampler, midi controller, sequencer.
Logic is a FULL DAW featuring lots of virtual instruments (synths, effects...)
I think you just should stick with live 7, it's a really brilliant software, and focus on getting sound libraries and VST synths if you don't already have some.
getting Logic 9 will only oblige you to learn another hugely deep software.
getting Maschine could improve your production workflow
Neither Maschine Nor Logic are more House orientated than live.
NO SOFTWARE, NO PLUGIN, NO MACHINE IS MADE FOR HOUSE MUSIC.
good luck

Re: NI Maschine VS. Logic 9 ?
Logic is a great bit of software, but it has a steep learning curve in comparison to Live and isn't going to offer you a huge amount that you don't already have. I bought Logic, tried it for a few months and just wished I was using Ableton all the time so switched back. The effects in logic (esp Delay Designer and Space Designer) are fantastic but I still haven't opened it in over a year.
I also own Maschine and it's a fantastic piece of kit. Not only is it fun but it's extremely easy to use and you'll be making grooves with it in no time. The whole concept (being able to do nearly everything on the controller-no screen) is incredibly well executed and frankly there's nothing on the market like it. Calling it an MPC clone doesn't do it the justice it deserves. It uses the MPC as it's basic concept but improves on it immensely - everything can be done in real time, much less menu diving and far superior effects. It does most things an MPC does and so much more (and it's alot faster to get around).
So having owned both products, I'd say go for Maschine no contest, your music will thank you for it for years to come.
No brainer IMHO.
