How do I connect my new Mixer to Ableton?
How do I connect my new Mixer to Ableton?
I'd just like to start off by saying that I'm relatively new to Ableton and electronic music production in general, but I'm learning. A couple weeks ago I purchased an M-Audio KeyRig 49 and connected it via USB to my PC. It was basicly plug & play, now I purchased a new mixer from Alesis, the iMultiMix 16, and I want to use it as a control surface but I'm having trouble figuring out how to do this. I installed the ASIO drivers it comes with. When I go into Audio Devices and select ASIO as my Driver Type, I then try to select "ALESIS IO|2 USB ASIO" and it says Failed to open the audio device "ALESIS IO|2 USB ASIO". I've tried using MME/DirectX and selecting my output device as "Speakers (USB Audio CODEC)" and I can get a signal into my mixer but still no sound output. I'm dying to use this mixer as a control surface, please help me out.
Re: How do I connect my new Mixer to Ableton?
Anyone? I can't figure this out. Maybe a link to an updated driver? I've googled it and can't find anything. I'm using the driver that came with the disc.

Best place for drivers would be alesis.com
Does it work otherwise, with other applications? I mean presumably the prob is not to do with Live as such.
Also I'm not sure this mixer works as a control surface exactly. it's an audio interface. Control surface implies it could be used to control elements in the DAW but I don't think that's the case. Could be wrong there though.
