Sequencing to film

Post by Patrick Turner-Lee » Fri Apr 22, 2005 1:36 pm

I want to put sequence to video file ie music for film. How can I do it as ABLETON doesn't seem to have facility for a video trrack like cubase. I prefer using Ableton. Do I have to rewire into Cubase???

Thanks

Yes, that's what you have to do. Rewire.
Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.

OH BOY is that South America. I think I want to be there and rewire later.

Do I have to rewire into another sequencer? Or can I attach to a movie programme??

Hey, you are always welcome here...but I'd advise you to go to the north of Brasil to get more sun right now, cos it's autumn!!!

I'm not sure if specific movie programmes (such as Adobe Premiere) have rewire capabilities, but with Cubase (or Nuendo which is more optimized for video) you surely can import the video file and then rewire Ableton to it so they both run in sync. I recommend you to import the video file in low quality so that Cubase don't eat so many resources creating the video snapshots for the timeline.

Maybe the other guys here have more experience doing this.

no this is a please please please for definate for the next version of Live all you Abletypes... at the moment the only ways are to ReWire to Logic or Cubase, or to use ReVision (on the Mac) which is cool, except that ReWire only works in slave mode (with ReVision being the master), meaning we can't access any of our Audio Units/VSTs/VSTis etc.. bummer... at the moment i do this kind of sync to picture stuff in Logic and bounce audio down from Live...

Slave

Yes I think this is the bummer with Cubase. I much prefer user the gear in Ableton but the only way seems to have Able as a slave and not a master.

OH ABLE wizards please sort this out . I would definitely raid the piggy bank for a tool to help sort this one out..

I am definitely an ABLE convert.

N-Track Studio 4 handles both Rewire and Video Sync

You can download the demo version. It is very inexpensive to buy this program.

i just do my scoring to picture guerilla style: run a quicktime or windows media player with the picture as i'm using ableton. it's what i'm used to and it works well for me after all the practice. andrew

If you're on PC, check out FLStudio 5 - very flexible as to how you run it

Thanks guys lots to look at. My prob. is putting things to timecode as in accurate sync to movie that can be sold or contracted to TV etc...

Patrick

I guess if I use Operator which is brill and Impulse then use VST plugins in Cubase while rewiring Able I should be OK for the timebeing. Still I really would like to see ABle run the whole show coz of how powerful and clean the prog is

I agree, that should be a definite consideration for the next version...they should just have a video track that you can implement.
