Launchpad dosn't work anymore

I'm using the novation launchpad with ableton live 8.1.1 (i also tried 8.1.3. and 8.1.4b2) on a
macbook 2.2ghz core 2 duo 4gb 667mhz ddr2 sdram with os x 10.5.8

since my last gig it dosen't work anymore. ableton didn't find it!
what can i do?

I really need some fast help, because i have to use it tonight!

test it on another pc or mac first, to check it for full functionality.

'dosen't work' means that there is absolutly nothing.
i don't use a hub oder something and i tried it
with the traktor dj4 interface and with internal
output. no midi-data is coming in.

the only thing that worked is the firework-buttonshow.

i dont have any other computers to check it because i'm
on tour to time.

same here except on mine ableton recognizes launchpad as a regular MIDI device, yet I have no functionality and the LEDS are dark

strange because mine was working just fine until I upgraded to 8.1.1

Try a new usb cable.. it's usually the culprit..

Not sure if this is helpful but...

For me (Vista user), the Launchpad is recognized in Live as a different device depending on which USB port I plug it into. The first port I use calls it "1-Launchpad". Having gone through a couple of USB hubs, I'm up to "13-Launchpad" now. Check your MIDI preferences and see if the input/output ports have these different numbers on them, and if necessary, change them to your current one. This works consistently for me, but the problem doesn't occur if I always put the Launchpad in the same USB port.

What sucks about this is if you have to change ports for whatever reason, you have to redo any MIDI mapping that you did with the Launchpad, since now it thinks it's a different device.

I imagine this functionality is awesome with multiple Launchpads that get recognized separately.
