Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
For IAC setup, check out COSMs video on IAC at Vimeo. The first part goes into how to engage this on your Mac.
I know this thing better be better than a blow job to make up for this agony, or I'm never going to hear the end of it, lol

FFS I had IAC set up on my old Mac but not on this one and now on OSX 10.6 I can't figure out how to do it and googling is giving me jack shit.LoopStationZebra wrote:For the preferred driver, I mean your IAC driver. Do you have IAC midi set up on your Mac? If not it's a quick process, and part of the OS.
This is the most effort I've ever put into getting somebody to STFU and it's unacceptable.
Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!! 3 minutes in and Tom is still babbling on. Just show me how to set this damn IAC UP!

It's good though, that your getting this going. I think touchOSC is going to be a big part of many great apps. Or, at least OSC is, heh.

Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
I got the driver set up and after following your "do in this exact order" instructions like it's some kind of goddamn intercontinental missile launch sequence I'm still getting nothing. I'm done expending energy on this. The interface looks nice but I see Steve green lighting porn on iPads before this "just works".
We'll see if I feel any different about it tomorrow...or the day after....

Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
Lets try tomorrow, beats. But you gotta promise to have your game face on.
We'll get it working.
Just think how satisfying it's going to be when you rip me a new asshole after you finally get it up and running and it proves to have a very high Effort To Meh ratio.

Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
Because I didn't want to end the night without the full TouchOSC WTF experience I decided to open the editor app and WOW a whole lot of nothing. I don't see any tools for creating shapes or layouts, just a big black shape I can switch from iPhone to iPad sized. Remarkable.
But to end the night on a lol, my roommate Saturday after a night of drinking Friday couldn't find his toothbrush. So he bought another. I was out on the balcony having one of many smoke breaks when trying to get this damn thing to work and I went to dump the butts out of a full ashtray into our small lidded garbage can strictly for butts and beer cans and inside was his toothbrush.
How and why it was in there I have no idea, but I'd say just after "in the toilet", "in a can full of butts and beer cans" is the exact last place you want to find your toothbrush. FAIL!

bollocks, i thought id fixed thatbeats me wrote:Well I'm TRYING to check out LiveControl and I've got the template loaded on the iPad but I can't get the LiveControl app to see my iPad in the Bonjour Services or the "Remote (iPad/iPad) IP Address. And I'm fairly annoyed I don't know what I should have open to do this. Just LiveControl or do I need OSCulator open too? Regardless, neither method works. My monitors are cluttered with apps and browser pages and I'm none too happy about it.
PS. if you have suggestions for improved functionality please let me know

I think I am getting a crash course in networking and routing. If it's just a matter of a one time setup and just having the LiveControl app running in the background similar to Novation's Automap then that's cool, but I just can't get it running in the first place.ST8 wrote:bollocks, i thought id fixed thatbeats me wrote:Well I'm TRYING to check out LiveControl and I've got the template loaded on the iPad but I can't get the LiveControl app to see my iPad in the Bonjour Services or the "Remote (iPad/iPad) IP Address. The instructions LSZ gave make sense (with a little clarification) although I don't know why it has to be in that exact order with frequent saves. But also I still can't get it to work even using those instructions.
One thing I noticed is the iPad shows my laptop as the network. Should it actually be the name of my router? I didn't set up an ad hoc network or anything.
I look forward to trying out LiveControl but after viewing the 2 track mixer layout I think I would have more fun with it using it with Traktor. I didn't see anything on your site that's a template for Traktor. Is there one out there?

Re: My New iPad: Daily Reports!
Ignore the saves bit. Those don't matter and I was being over zealous in my nitpicking. lol.
I'd set up the ad hoc network though. Who knows what issues your home wifi network might have.
However, if your laptop is showing up on the iPad app, that's a good sign.
The app showing your laptop as the router is CORRECT. It's doing this because of LiveControl running on your Mac. The app needs to connect with a machine, not a router.
Say, have you set the control surface as LiveControl in Live?

Yeah I did that in the prefs. But as I am currently at work I can't test or speculate more.LoopStationZebra wrote:Say, have you set the control surface as LiveControl in Live?
I'm assuming this is supposed to work like Mackie Control but even when I tried to manually assign things I got nothing.
When I tried TouchOSC out with another template on the iPad and OSCulator open I was able to manually assign things, just nothing with LiveConttrol.

I'm still at work but I'm sure I will be spending some more time at home hitting refresh on Apple's totally borked iPhone pre-order page.
