Congrats! How's the coverage back in NZ... All-Whites get as much publicity as All-Blacks?

BWahahahaha! Lemme put it like this: What the All Blacks are to Rugby, The All Whites aren't to Soccer.

Angstrom wrote:BBC, had a hillarious brainfart and have let Chris Moyles commentate on this NZ vs Slovakia match. Usually I hate the Moyles, but as a eejit commentator, he's not too bad. Certainly different. You don't usually hear the commentators yell out "rubbish, that was a rubbish corner. They really aren't very good at football this lot"
Red button, if you are curious. You'll need to leave half your IQ at the door of course.
The alternative commentary on the BBC is usually quite funny, in Rugby they don't even bother commentating the game, just tell crap jokes

So when's the world cup going to get interesting then?

By the way, if you haven't seen it already, The Other Final is well worth tracking down and watching...

this is the worst world cup ive ever seen...
i dont know if im spoiled by the great season my club played and the funny champions league. or european club football in general. i mean, whats happening? this is worse than those boring italian clubs that ONLY go for one goal and then play constantly with all players in their own half. most boring thing ive seen so far.
and then i dont like the type of hurra-patriotism that pops up in germany since the last world championships over here. its totally uncool to drive home by bike when a mob of drunken chavs scattered the whole city with broken beer bottles and chanting frightening shit in the middle of the night. they should seriously get a job, or a life, or both!

What you have to remember is that unlike the top European sides who can sign whoever they want, most countries, even the Brazil's of this world, are lucky to have more than half a dozen really class players. This means there are usually at least 4 or 5 very average players (or donkeys was the old word that seems to fit) and some of the teams, it's more like 7 or 8. International soccer is always more dull than league soccer and European Champions League etc, unless an early goal is scored and opens the game up.

New Zealand - I take my hat off to them, apart from Nelsen (at Blackburn) and one or two others, they have players who are truly amateur (one guy had been playing for Worksop Town in the Unibond league or whatever, another while at a 2nd division European side, had not played in the first team ONCE in the past 2 years, with a handful of reserve appearances and loans out where he saw no action either). Kiwis should be proud of the effort their bunch of mostly semi pros and some amateurs put in today.

I have enjoyed most of the matches, but really, I don't know if it's the high altitude of many grounds, the new ball which everyone seems to be overhitting badly, or just a lack of talent but this World Cup so far has not exactly caught fire for skilfull and exciting attacking play.
