powerbook crash after sleep anyone?

Helloo,
Once or twice I've sent my PB 1.33 to sleep with Live still running... If I leave it for a few hours and wake it up some times Live doesn't want to play and also the system locks up... system clock seems to be stuck at the time I sent it to sleep... It doesn't happen with other programs left running...

Any similar experiences? Is this a OS X problem or is Live hogging some important little nodule that brings my mac back to life...?

Serves me right for doing anything else other than using Live I reckon...

Hi telekom,

firstly, which version of Live do you use?

It is hard to say if it is a problem of Live or something of the system. We know that several producers of Audio or MIDI interface recommend not go in sleep mode.

But however, you could send me the crash log of Live so we can see where it crashes.

OK, Live 4.1 was the version I was using when it last happened. But since I posted I've downloaded 4.1.2, so far so good...

PB 15/OSX 10.3.8/only a measly 512 ram

Can't find the crash logs Alex, (I'm falling asleep!).
4.1.2 is so far working as normal. I'm tending to quit Live before sleeping the mac too, not every time but more often than not. I take your advice - better not to sleep! But at this moment I'll have to give in and fall over...

telekom, almost all soundcards give problems with sleepmode to be honest. i just turn the contrast of on the screen if im not using it for a while....
my soundcard is rme multiface which is one of the best you can buy.....and it crashes after a wake up...not all the time, but quite often.

my advice, dont use sleep ever....

Wot's weird is that I'm still using OS9 with a multiface and going in and out of sleep is 100% relaible for me. I always shut the lid on my tibook after soundcheck and it wakes up every time rearing to go. Shame this functionality isn't there any more under X

yeah, I'm going to have to develop better habits... Plus I need to optimize (Optimo-ize?) the machine for using with Live, no problems so far but I 'm sure I'll hit the buffers when I least expect it.

When I put mine to sleep and wake it back up, my midi controllers wont work. And it usually will not even recognize one. Like its not even hooked up. But I have no problems with reason or my other software. I assume this is a live problem. It happens to me on both version 4 and now 5. I wish this would be addressed in a future version.

I find sleeping the pb isn't a problem anymore for Live 4.1.2 and 10.3.9... sometimes the uc33e I use fails to come back after sleep though. If I turn it off and on and then make sure it's selected in Live prefs that usually brings it back. HTH

Ill keep playing with it. Im on tiger now, but when I was using 4 in the beginning I had 10.3.9. I guess one strange thing I noticed is how slow it takes to do alomost any task after waking from sleap mode. Just opening the preferences menu took forever. The little spinning wheel actually came up where my mouse pointer was. It took so long to get it going again, i decided it is faster to just start up live fresh after a sleap mode, lol. Im sure this is one of those unfixable problems and I just gave my computer a brain fart or something.
