mapping midi controller to mute/solo in drum racks?
is this possible? am i missing something here? i'm looking to map mute/solo buttons on my nanokontrol to the individual drums in a drum rack. but when i enter midi map mode and go to my drum racks, the mute/solo buttons aren't highlighted and do nothing when i click on them. i can't map them to macro knobs in drum rack map mode either. and mapping the macros to drum volume isn't exactly what i'm looking for. any suggestions?

not sure about solo, but if you hit the i-o button on the left side of the drum rack you can then midi map to the chain activator which is the same as the mute button. For solo maybe you could rig up a midi rack to filter the incoming notes? I tend to use midi for muting anyway as if you have a reverb tail present in a drum sample then sometimes audio muting isn't the best.

Re: mapping midi controller to mute/solo in drum racks?
i found the chain muting opting shortly after i posted. but thanks!
regarding midi mute... that's certainly a better option, but how do i mute/solo just one note in a midi clip?

plonk a midi effect rack as your first device, with a dedicated chain for each midi note in your drum rack; mute individual chains

or you can put a midi velocity device on each drum chain, set min and max velocity to 0, and turn it off and on to intercept the midi notes.

Re: mapping midi controller to mute/solo in drum racks?
got it! velocity trick totally worked. has the opposite effect on the nanokontrol too (from muting chains) where the led comes on when it's muted and off otherwise. which is actually what i would prefer, oddly
thanks for the help. wish this would work for solo. i thought i could just assign the solo switches to fire all the OTHER mutes, but it can't be assigned (new cc's override the old) and isn't really the best solution anyway. but this is definitely better! VERY weird that this isn't a feature of live out of the gate

maybe just have a second set of velocity devices for solo then? you could only ever solo one at a time unfortunately.guatamaham wrote:wish this would work for solo. i thought i could just assign the solo switches to fire all the OTHER mutes, but it can't be assigned
Maybe there is a different way you could do it with some tricky racks to enable multiple solos. I'll think about it tomorrow when I'm not so tired, because I'd like to do the same really.
should be a feature straight up, though :/
