New Drum Pad controller from M-Audio

I said it somewhere else on the forum today... but it could be a good alternative to the triggerfinger if you have an old velocity sensitive drum machine (like my old Alesis SR16) which has twelve pads which you can use for triggering drum samples or clips and scenes in Live. Saves you £180, and you can put to good use something which might have been gathering dust since Ableton came along!!!

I know the pads are smaller on a drum machine than on a triggerfinger or an MPC, but sometimes you've gotta make a cheap alternative...

i'm loving how to use the pressure sensitivity for modulating different parameters.
i think i need to make the drive up to Sweetwater now and pick one up.

I ordered it from Sweetwater Tuesday. They called me the next day and told me it would be a few weeks out still and that they were just doing Pre-sales. Nothing about that when I ordered it from the site though.

I am going to mount it on my upright bass to control Battery and go to town. Someday.

Oxygen and the bigger version I didn't like. sloppy build quality, faders were super bad. but I get the impression this is slightly different. if I get the chance I want to check it out.

hot questions for me:
- midi latency, is it really fast and stable using USB (stuff on the video demo is not as tight as it should be for me but it can be the one playing)?
- pads, are you able to really play with velocity? play super quiet and super loud? or is it like Oxygen: velocity in random order all over the place ;(
- does the whole machine feel sturdy?
- is there a Reason3 Remote-template created yet?

I tried one the other day in LA, and I thought it felt pretty cheap. Its no evolution or doepfer device, those are pretty solid....this was really plasticy, the pad response was pretty good, but I wasnt impressed.

I suppose for some this is cool, but at least you have some options with all the companies making these things now.
