Re: The World Cup Thread
Tbh, i don't have much hope of beating spain if we come to play against them, despite of the 7-0 today...
The real test now will be Brazil.

Spain looked good today but both Portugal and Spain were facing poor opposition today. Nonetheless, all you can ask for is to win these games, which both accomplished.
Portugal would probably take back 2 or 3 of those goals vs N. Korea if they could have them against Brazil, right !

Re: The World Cup Thread
Portugal didn't take their chances against Ivory Coast though, so it's easy to get carried away with one game. Once the second goal went in North Korea just capitulated.
With Spain you get the feeling that they are going to win big some time to make up for the many missed chances in the first 2 matches. Torres is getting fitter, he has wasted chances but looked sharper today and he's been out for 2 months before the World Cup, if he gets in his stride there will be Villa and Torres, 2 excellent strikers to handle. Portugal don't have great strikers, they rely on their midfielders to get goals (plus Ronaldo who plays as a striker but went 16 games without a goal until today).
Whatever, it should be a great game if Spain and Portugal do meet and Portugal have only conceded 2 goals in their last 12 games, so Spain will need to take their chances. Spain are still playing the more consistent flowing soccer though, even against the Swiss when they lost but Portugal played a great 2nd half vs Korea.

"After today's game I think we have powered our way to victory. I don't think we played a great game at all. We should have scored more goals, and I am not entirely satisfied by our performance today." this is nice, very well said.

Before the flight home, they will have 23 absentees because if they are on the flight home to Pyongyang they'll probably face the firing squad after that 7-0 spanking for 'disgracing' the nation
worst. We can have a lot of fun with Kim "Hole-in-one" Jong-il, but it's no laughing matter for the North Korean people.

Spain is a terribly well balanced team in all positions and they keep possession of the ball like no other.
Portugal has problems like you say in the strikers and also in the sides of the defense, and they also like to have possession of the ball and space to play. If they don't have that... you saw the game against Ivory Coast!
Nonetheless this victory was a great morale boost and that counts a lot, and Spain still has to beat Chile which is a good team.
Anything can happen, we'll see.
ps: that goal from Ronaldo has to be one of the funniest ever.

He's been practicing that.
