is the imac core2duo 3.06 enough for ableton live 8? or should I go for another imac 27 icore 5?

I run Live 8 on a 13.3" MacBook unibody sporting a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo and it runs well with many, many tracks.
That said, the i5 is a newer processor and does outperform a C2D handily, plus it's a quad in the iMac.
Do you need a 27" 2560x1440 display? That's HUGE and I can only imagine the glory of using Live on such a thing
But I run a 1280x800 display atm 
I really don't know the cost difference, but if you can afford the 27" I'd go for it. It's much more future-proofed.
