Dubstep inspired Track - Feedback Appreciated

Post by UnCL0NED » Wed Jun 23, 2010 4:57 pm

I've just uploaded a new track I'm currently working on.
Mostly recorded samples mashed up in Live and a 140Bpm dubstep driven beat (no wobblin').
I really hope to finish some tracks, so any feedback to keep me moving is appreciated.
Thanks and enjoy.

Alright! Not everyday I get chair dancin' here at Abelton. :D
Very cool beat you've got going around :30. And you provide lots of variety in sampled elements and the way you put them together was coherent. :D (That's my idea of high praise, BTW.)
I love the bass synth/sample around 1:38. You really showed restraint using it, which was smart. It is super cool sprinkled in as you do, but too much of it would slaughter your track, I think.
The track is so good I have to assume you are just struggling with the ending? It seemed too soon. (That's also praise, although accidental ha). Maybe you could develop the interior of the track more. You know, dwell longer on/explore more a couple sample manipulations? Then the end wouldn't seem too soon.
Thanks for sharing!
Recovering quite nicely from my VocoPro addiction, thanks for asking!

Really enjoyed this track. I thought you did a good job of incorporating swells and builds, and I thought your transitions were fluid. The ending is too soon I wanted more!

I have to say I enjoyed this track. I think the sounds/samples are working really well in here. The melody is stark enough to provoke intrigue yet still keep the listener's attention throughout. I agree with the other posts though, the arrangement in general could use some development. The ending especially, as already mentioned, but also look at where you want the most intense part of the track to land, and how you want to build up to it/build down from it, and I think this will help you develop the ending with a little more intention. Cheers mate, nice work overall.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the positive feedback! Much appreciated.

I guess the overall message/feedback for this song is clear: a bit more exploration in the arrangement and develop a better ending.

Indeed I initially had a longer ending, but it just lingered on without adding anything interesting to the song. So then I cut it about 30 seconds sooner. I guess I have to try harder to find something that really works! Maybe revise the whole arrangement.

Thanks again!
