Hey Jack.
I had a listen to your track and I don't know if it is Soundcloud but it sounds kind of flat and lacks any dynamic.

Those bass sounds are nasty and should be pumping and intimidating but instead they are lifeless and flat. I would use some panning and chorus to fill the space.

The drums are the heart of the track and should have more dynamics and a bit more in your face. Give them some more volume and a bit of reverb.

I have listened to some of your other tracks and you are capable of doing this so keep at this one.

I do like the intro sound. :)

Thanks for sharing.

Hey Jack,

I like your stuff.

You need to sidechain that bass sound to get a pumping dynamic. Set the threshold just below the peaks and you'll notice it sounds much more full of life.

Your drumsounds are flat- definitely sound too much like samples. Use gentle pan on individual drum sounds eg hihats.

The breakdown would sound better if there was another few bars before the bassline came in and then....

...and then when it does it needs to be coarser. Much too smooth and as amigo says it is a bit lifeless. Reverb/chorus and stereo spread would liven it up.

Nice ideas!!

After hearing feedback i am tempted to scrap song and start with a new idea.. Gonna try to salvage this song but it's not looking good hah. I made the mistake of using old drum sets that i had made rather than starting fresh which i usually do to get dynamics and levels of each drum right. The bass is kinda meh im trying various effects, but it might be more realistic to scrap the bass track and redesign it completely.. Ill let you all know what i end up doing.

Thanks for feedback

All you need are 2-3 oscillators on that bass and it will sound sweet. Are you using operator or an external soft synth?

Then stick a sidechain on it and you have a different instrument.

Just reposted song on soundcloud. I noticed i used 16 bit the first time i uploaded that may have been part of the problem.. Added sidechain compression. Another oscillator or 2. Some autopan. Saturator's. I use Albino 3 in this song for bass. Sometimes i use operator or analog or other ableton instruments for wobble though. I used 2 drum sets for this song which i haven't done in awhile. Im thinking it might be better to stick to one set so its easier to get the levels all right. Let me know waht yaal think about edit as i still am a bit unsatisfied w/ this song and might just start fresh on something new.

Hey, I'm at work but will give this a listen when I get chance.

I noticed i used 16 bit the first time i uploaded that may have been part of the problem..
16 bit will make little discernible difference! Have a read if you want to know more.
