Looper and Global Transport

Post by mgoins » Fri Jun 25, 2010 10:27 pm

Can someone help me get control of the global transport when I'm using Looper? It seems when the Looper is running, the global transport keeps running and running.

In a perfect world, I'd like to ...
1) record a loop in Looper
2) have the global transport stop when I play the loop
3) when I release the loop, the global transport starts at the end of the loop section.

I want to be able to loop a section of a song ... then release the loop and continue the song. Any ideas on how to achieve this.

Sincerely,
MarshallG

in looper there's a setting under 'tempo control' : "set&follow song tempo"
if the transport is stopped and record on the looper is pressed ..
then it does exactly what you wanted..
the manual is your friend !

Just as a follow-up, the tempo control on Looper has zero effect on the transport as described in the previous post, in relation to what the original poster was requesting. If anyone else has a solution, I would be eager to hear about it.

What about doing it arrangement view and having preset loop marker points? Not sure if this would work for what you need, just throwing it out there as I am almost sure I've heard of this sort of thing being done before.

I found a workaround using the ClyphX midi remote script and a series of triggers that drop locator points and then activate a transport loop in relation to the locators.

Wish Ableton had an on/off option in Looper to lock the loop to the transport so the user has the option of not progressing with the song while Looper is running. Would be a much more elegant way to handle this.
