I was in the middle of bumfuck for the weekend with no cell signal...for any phone. On the way home now just on the outskirts of bumfuck. I'll report more later but so far I'm loving the new iPhone. Haven't had any reception issues yet when I was in range, but more to come later.

Posted from my new iPhone. It's a Miracle!

Aha. Hmm. So do the reception bars dwindle when you hold the phone in that 'special way'?

Or was all of this just hateful lies spread by the pwned Gizmodo?

I've had bars fluctuate BUT

1. I haven't had any dropped calls
2. Despite solid efforts trying to find the unsweet spot on the phone I haven't had the bars move in either direction based on how I hold it.
3. My old iPhone had bars doing similar fluctuations

Maybe some people are having major problems, but I'm not.

Played with my friends' iP4. Held hand over black antenna separator. Watch the bars drop! Apple borked it.

Well, considering you hold it up your ass that's not surprising.

Don't know if Puff is the voice of reason here, but high marks for the use of 'borked'.

I have no problems with the bars.

Now let's get to some real issues. If you like slapping the phone around your face a lot when talking it's quite easy to accidently bump the speakerphone option and BAM everbody is listening to your conversation.

I don't know, man. The way it's getting reported on here not 1 iPhone left manufacturing without this problem. I was gone for the weekend so I'll have to watch the nightly news because the bay area local news can't complete a broadcast without at least 1 Apple related story. If this is still a major issue experienced by everybody but myself and Steve then they should still be beating the story into the floor.

Really I was going to get a case anyway and with this advertised problem (I don't have) I'm not going to regress into a 12-year-old and not get a case now because now I have to for it to work.

The only reason I don't already have a case is because everybody freaked the fuck out and got a case and emptied out the supplies the day of release.

I just tried 3 different 4G iPhone's out (1 at the apple store, 2 are friends') and could not get this bar dropping thing to happen no matter how I held it or bridged the antenna. Maybe it depends on the signal strength or something?

Either way, I love the new iPhone compared to my 3GS. Always thought the plastic rounded back was kinda cheap, the new ones are ace and the display even more so.
