PS3 or XBOX360 ????
Re: PS3 or XBOX360 ????
As an Apple fanboy I have to go with the PS3 for 2 obvious reasons: less games available (just like for my Macs) and no Microsoft involvement.
Also there's the blu ray player which a lot of people are claiming is better than boxes that do nothing but play blu ray.
Also I always buy my games from ebay for 20% - 50% less than what you'd pay in a retail store and you'll usually find games for that discount soon after release.
But since I got my iPad I haven't turned on my PS3 even once.

as an apple fanboy myself, I'm wondering since ages when will apple release their own game console... if they will.As an Apple fanboy I have to go with the PS3 for 2 obvious reasons: less games available (just like for my Macs) and no Microsoft involvement.
anyway, I think I'll follow the price criteria first, and it seems the Xbox 360 is much more affordable...
I also could have a check on the second hand market...
thanks to all your replies, let's continue the debate!
cheers
Re: PS3 or XBOX360 ????
I don't think Apple will ever come out with a game console because games have never been their priority and some would argue, including Apple, that their iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch are game consoles "and so much more!".
Also forgot, xboxes have the highest rate of overheating issues.

The new ones also don't RROD and only have a 1 yr warantee instead of the 3 yr on the old ones. There's already issues w/ the new ones called the 'red light of death' that happens w/ the power block.beats me wrote:I don't think Apple will ever come out with a game console because games have never been their priority and some would argue, including Apple, that their iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch are game consoles "and so much more!".

Don't get one 2nd hand. The 360 because they are VERY prone to break regardless and the PS3 because the ones on the 2nd hand market are dominated by broken ones as well.supamonsta wrote:as an apple fanboy myself, I'm wondering since ages when will apple release their own game console... if they will.As an Apple fanboy I have to go with the PS3 for 2 obvious reasons: less games available (just like for my Macs) and no Microsoft involvement.

Aren't the new 360's and the new PS3's the same price? Yeah, I just checked and the new SKU's are both $299.

I also considered the PC option, but after having a quick google time, it seems it is:would prefer gaming pc any day. graphics somehow looks much much better than on consoles. and i cant imagine playing fps on gamepad...
1) more expensive than a console to match the console's quality
2) less "hands-on"
(and 3) PC stuff (windows, drivers and compatibility issues, system cleaning tasks, etc.) )
I might be wrong?
(If a game-only mini PC can handle same games as consoles with same quality for same or inferior price, I may be interested)
cheers
Re: PS3 or XBOX360 ????
dude i think you're gonna be happy with which ever one you get. they're all pretty bad ass these days.
i have a Wii and a 360 and i like em both a lot, especially the 360 lately. there are a couple of games that the PS3 has that i wish i could play, but there are more games that are only XBox that i would be wishing i could play if i had the PS3. i certainly wouldn't base my decision on the blu-ray player. besides, how much time do you really have for video games at this point in your life?

thanks for your inputdude i think you're gonna be happy with which ever one you get. they're all pretty bad ass these days.

1) blue ray player is not appealing to me
2) number of available games criteria is indeed to be considered, much more if I want to buy 2nd hand games (I'm not that really into paying 70 bucks for a game..)
3) I got some time for now, say, about 4h per week. I'm not making music these days, mojo is gone (I'm pretty sure It will be back one day, I'm like that since more than 10 years, switching between creative and consumer times)
I'm not at all an hardcore gamer but I play video games since the atari 2600 (had a nintendo, then played the megadrive and superfamicom, then had an amiga 500, then PC, then playstation 1 and even bought an old super nintendo 5 years ago, then MAME os X last years...)
I just want to have some fun with the super great 21th century games before I'll really have no time for that, now that I have a good lcd monitor, and that my girl also likes playing video games and also super impressed when she sees new games trailers on youtube...
The PS3 does interest me also because I had lots of fun with the PS1, and some ps3 only games do attract me particularly (GT5, tekken 6...)
I still don"t know, fact is that I could easily get more games on the xbox...
I'm not buying it now, I'll wait for this fall, I first have to move from my city to another, find a house, etc.
but I'll get one for sure, even If I use it just some little hours here and there
thanks
cheers

I have a PS3 and find that the exclusives such as Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Uncharted 2 and the soon-to-be-released GT5 are worth the price of the console alone.
Free online gaming as well.

Re: PS3 or XBOX360 ????
Ive never wanted to play a console by myself but I can stand to use a PC when I'm alone. For that reason alone I decided to sell my Xbox after a month having only used it once for a span of 30 minutes by myself. I think Its great when you have people over to play together but otherwise I hated it.
I hope what ever you choose you will enjoy but you should also understand there is allot of hype used to sell video games.

One of the best RPG's I've played, a cross between Diablo 2 and Oblivion. Just awesome.

Re: PS3 or XBOX360 ????
I'm finding it to be surprisingly easy, but I also beat Resident Evil 2 w/out a single save when it first came out because I didn't have a memory card. You want to talk about difficult... just have to know that every single enemy, even the 'easy' ones, can kill you if you aren't prepared and usually you'll be fine. I'm getting the same satisfaction out of this game that I did out of RE2, similarly eerie.deanthomastunes wrote:I steering well clear of Demon Souls lol. I won't have the patience.
