bitstream 3x - knob assignment

I'm looking for a way to auto-assign the knobs on my bitstream3x in live.
I want to sequentially assign the knobs to whatever controls are in the currently selected plugin, similarly to the way the APC works.

has anyone done anything like this using mfl or the python API?

The functionality of controlling the selected device (shown by a blue hand) is implemented in the User Remote Script of the MIDI Remote Scipts. So you can easily assign 8 CCs to the first 8 Parameters of the selected device.
