the thing reminds me of the access virus of drum synths
somehow ive managed to make kick drum sounds that sound more real than most bd samples i have. And ever since i got this thing my ER-1 has been locked away in storage

I'm a big fan of the uTonic/Impulse combo. I hate to admit it, but I like the uTonic sound more than the Elektron machinedrum.

my friend is selling his machinedrum after he heard that microtonic thing.im hoping the next version will have more outputs.also i heard that ver.2 will be out very,very soon.im not sayin this is a fact,its just something ive read somewhere.
anyways as soon as it does come out im sure it will be hot.

I vote for Microtonic if you want electronic drums.

Very similar to my Korg ER1 but better.

Just using the demo at the moment but im 99% sure of registering as you get the extra presets and sounds, anyone else tried these presets that are downloadable to registered users.

I have also heard rumours of version 2 coming out once the guy gets off vacation.

they're decent. lots of patches to get ideas flowing, but really its so much fun to program myself i find myself rarely using those programs.

Any reviews on steinberg's groove agent? I'm also looking for a drum sampler mostly for accoustic/realistic drum tracks, so multi-sample and "humanizing" features are plusses.

Look at DK+, sounds very good for acoustic drums.

Groove Agent is ok - i tried it a goodwhile ago now and i know Groove Agent 2 is out - I Suppose if you need a drum support track then it would do.

The Quality is good but theres only about 30 styles from 1950 - 2004\ranging from electro, samba,swing,salsa,rocknroll alsorts really.

Maybe try some drum sample CD's.

I have heard of stuff like Drum Kits from Hell etc.

i tried out most of them...

"one" the thing i love about Microtonic and Groove Agent is that you can put them on the input of your midi tracks (well... unfortunately, not in Live

), press play and record the midi that's coming out of those drum machines. Later, you can the sound or the pattern, if you don't like it. And the best thing is that Microtonic has a RANDOM function

going back to regular drum samplers, DR008, Battery, RM IV... imho DR 008, is by far the best buy. you'll get great analog and some classic drum machines (808, 909...) samples with it. included sound generators are awesome and have (guess what?) RANDOM function. you can adjust some really cool kicks with it (didn't like the kicks in Microtonic and Attack).

and i'll end up this review with clishe thought that, in the end, we'll have to admit to ourselves that only the gifted ones are making good music. it really doesen't matter (that much) what we use.

A little bird told me that Microtonic will have much more control of the outputs. I can't verify that but agree that more outputs are necessary.
