How to Increase the Sounds Quality ?!
Re: How to Increase the Sounds Quality ?!
combinations of saturator with various eq/filter/compressor are a key to analogue sounding tracks in live if you are all in the box, it can easily be done if someone takes the time to really learn the tools
i personally use a hybrid setup for my music and i still love the sound im able to generate by recording machines and experimenting between the computer and other instruments/processing. only about half the time i record the actual sum through the desk and that all depends on how the track is being made creatively. if im doing most of the track in my machinedrum and using live as a synth then that will probably get recorded right from my mixer. Other times i just use the board to track and draw loops/sounds from my analogue gear and use them inside live.
for me the point of quality is in the recording process and experimenting with preamps (driving hot/cold. i often send ableton synths into the mixer through preamps and other little bits to use the hardware eq/filter on the desk. Of course these nonlinearities really can be generated in live but what i find in this process is that it forces me to spend a bit more time on the whole process of recording something and i naturally become more focused on the sounds themselves. having the machines is also creatively superficial for me in a way, i am a very visual person and being surrounded by multi-colorful cables and sleek swedish drum machines makes me more creative somehow, it just works for the vibe

is this some kind of mantra that gets true when its repeated often enough?Of course these nonlinearities really can be generated in live ...

Re: How to Increase the Sounds Quality ?!
this question is asked and debated as nauseum every couple of weeks.
This is how to increase quality with Live
1) get good mics / mic preamps / audio interface with decent pres and converters etc and read up and practice to use them to best effect.
2) read the manual, learn how to use Live instinctively and read the audio paper Ableton produced so you understand what is and isn't a neutral operation. Especially be careful with setting modes high quality and warping.
3) learn how to mix, leaving headroom and dynamics, high pass filtering, etc, etc. For electronic music, learn common techniques such as sidechaining bass from kick drum etc.
4) If using a lot of VSTS/AUS do your research and choose ones with minimal aliasing, and consider using higher sample-rates which helps prevent aliasing. If you're bouncing vsts, bounce them as 32 bit float files and consider using higher samplerates.
If you work on all the above, your end product should sound fine, arguably as good as in any other DAW (don't want to go down another 20 page flamefest arguing about this).
Live gives you a more than capable platform to produce great sounding music, it's up to you to learn how to use it to the max.

.... and don't forget to remember that in the 90's people made great music that sounded awesome.
.... and don't forget to remember that in the 80's people made great music that sounded over produced.

and none of them cared much about a 64 bit OS.

Re: How to Increase the Sounds Quality ?!
totally true,
most of us love old 8bit and extra harmonics.
some rare cases of really high frquency or pitch manipulation would benefit of doube prec 64 bits hoever.
ie Amon tobin use lot of pithing and will prefer an analog desk not affected by aliasing.
in digital world a 88kz or 192khz would reduce by 2 or 4 aliasing when pitching down and 64 bits
global better summing, and avoid rounding that can be noticed if repeated for Xoperations, even if minor i reckon.
i prever a warm 8bit old HW as well, very, very often..

you forget to mention that there are people in the 10´s doing great sounding music with the help of the magix music maker

Oh well, the thread was fun while it lasted. This is my cue to move on.

Re: How to Increase the Sounds Quality ?!
Thank You Friends- Finally there are some replies about the the routing before and after Live, about bouncing and Samplerates, about recording and EQing - all that little things people often
oversee by focusing on the CLIP in the Session which is nice but not well as it could be.
By following some ideas and advices here given - maybe somebody can really improve the
QUALITY OF SOUNDs
and nothing else was the theme - thanks for not flamimg bout engines and apples,
but really took on the thoughts i scrachted on with my post
