USB 2.0 is the new firewire Pasha ! Most of the recent USB 2.0 interfaces, such as RME's Fireface UC, perform as well, if not better, than firewire.

The MicroBook is USB 1.0. ..but so is the Apogee One.

The CueMix video shows you can send its mixes output to any of the 3 output pairs, which makes me wonder if you can address the outputs independently from host. That'd be 6 outs (4 analog), which isn't that bad.

I kinda melted my brain on this for a minute, but I don't think they would bill it as a 4 x 2 interface if it could do 4 x 6.

On second thought, there is some good news for electronic music people in regards to the MicroBook. Its TRS outputs are DC coupled, so it can be used with Volta. It's now by far the cheapest interface on the market that's compatible with Volta.

p.s. i don't thing it's a bad interface, if it contains the quality you are used to from motu... i just said it is not appealing to me, personally...
to many other options i consider more worthwhile around...

I bought a Microbook.
It's a nice concept and, if it worked, would be great.
However, there are clearly some major issues with this soundcard - the audio is full of crackes and pops. Even worse if you try running the CueMix digital mixing software at the same time (which is pretty essential if you want to use it in any practical way). And yes, I've tried every thinkable combination of USB port etc., downloaded the latest driver (the driver than comes in the box doesn't work at all!) etc. etc.
Ran it with Live and with Logic - major problems with both. At one stage, it fell over completely with Logic and there was no getting the sound back. I ran iTunes just to make sure that there was some audio coming from my computer (a new MacBook Pro, so no issues with system spec) and had to toggle to built-in i/o in the Sound menu in System Prefs to get audio.
Highly recommend avoiding this product. Mine's going back to Dolphin Music asap.

+1. A physical volume knob is essential for me. Even better, seperate speaker and headphones knobs.

I'm getting a Mackie Blackjack after Christmas as it fits my bill perfectly. Personally don't need MIDI in/out so I'm glad some interfaces don't waste space adding them.
